Staff Development Assessment Plan
Prior to the beginning of the Technology Development Workshops, a short survey will be mailed to staff members. They will be asked to complete the survey prior to coming to the workshops. Questions will address the expectations staff members have for the individual workshops they will be attending – what competencies they hope to achieve, as well as their expectations for the trainers. This information will be used to compare with information obtained during and following the workshops.
Immediately following each workshop, the staff will be asked to complete a short survey. They will be asked to evaluate the content, the organization, the delivery, the relevance to their classrooms, and the competency they feel they have achieved. This information will be used in three ways: 1) since feedback will be available at the end of each session, it will provide immediate feedback to trainers about problems within the workshop design, allowing them to make immediate changes if necessary; 2) it will be compared with the information from surveys completed by the staff prior to training to evaluate how well expectations were met and what changes need to be made to better meet the expectations of the staff; and 3) it will be used to evaluate the learning outcomes the staff believed they gained. Trainers will meet at the end of each day of training to discuss the survey results and determine if there are any issues that need to be addressed right away.
Trainers will be expected to design a rubric to evaluate products the teachers produce during the workshops. If a teacher is unable to complete a product, or does not effectively complete a product, the trainer will arrange a follow-up session to work one-on-one with the teacher.
Teachers will be asked to compose an email letter to the technology support person one month after the workshops. In their letter, they will explain what they liked, what they didn’t like, or what they would change about two of the workshops they attended. They should also include how they have used what they learned during the workshop in their classroom with their students.
