The Eye
From www.howstuffworks.com
Cornea- Helps focus light to create an image on the retina
The cornea, along with the lens and some additional fluids acts as a converging lens
Converging Lenses
from www.glenbrook.k2.il.us
The above diagram indicated the way in which converging lenses focus light
Thicker at their center than at their edges
Generally, the shape of the cornea and eye are not perfect.  Errors in vision that result are known as refractive errors.  Refraction is the bending and focusing of light.
Three types of refractive errors are: Myopia (nearsightedness) Hyperopia (farsightedness) and Astigmatism (distortion of images on the cornea)
