Glendale, AZ- The Phoenix Coyotes started the season off strong by going 4-2 after the first week. The season started off great as the Coyotes defeated the New York Islanders by the score of 5-3. The next night the San Jose Sharks came to town and defeated the Coyotes by a score of 5-2. The Coyotes got back on the winning side as they defeated the visiting Pittsburgh Penguins by a score of 5-3. The next night the Coyotes were hoping to get revenge on their only loss of the season, however the Sharks were just too tough and defeated the Coyotes by a score of 4-2. The Coyotes then traveled up to Edmonton and defeated the home team by the score of 4-3, the Coyotes then ended up their week by finally defeating the Sharks 5-3. Ladislav Nagy is leading the team in goals with four, points with eight. Lauri Tukonen is looking very impressive with an extended look with the big club as he has two assists in the six games. He is keeping pace with the other top rookies Sidney Crosby and Alexander Ovechkin who have four and two assists respectively. The goaltending is a little shaky Olaf Kolzig has a 3.45 G.A.A, however with the Coyotes actually scoring this year he is getting wins.
