So the phone line was dead all afternoon because Bell was activating the internet today, and we got a call at dinner time (right when Becca was literally rolling on the floor laughing and crying... hmm...) with "Emily" (or Emile?) calling to let us know that high speed was installed. So here I am updating from William St. for the first time!

To celebrate, here's a(nother) great Relient K to sing to:

SONG OF THE MOMENT

We all know the girls that I am talking about
Well they are time bombs and they are ticking
And the only question's when they'll blow up
And they'll blow up
We know that without a doubt
Cause they're those girls
Yeah, you know those girls that let their emotions get the best of them

And I've contrived some sort of a plan to help my fellow man
Let's get emotional girls to all wear mood rings
So we'll be tipped off to when they're ticked off
Cause we'll know just what they're thinking
Cause what they're thinking

She's so pretty but she but doesn't always act that way
Her mood's out swinging on the swing set almost every day
She said to me that she's so happy it's depressing
And all I said was "someone get that girl a mood ring"

If it's drama you want then look no further
They're like the real world meets Boy Meets World meets Days of Our Lives
And it just kills me how they get away with murder
They'll anger you then bat their eyes
Those pretty eyes that watch you sympathize

And I've contrived some sort of a plan to help my fellow man
Let's get emotional girls to all wear mood rings
So we'll be tipped off to when they're ticked off
Cause we'll know just what they're thinking
Cause what they're thinking

She's so pretty but she but doesn't always act that way
Her mood's out swinging on the swing set almost every day
She said to me that she's so stressed out that it's soothing
And all I said was "someone get that girl a mood ring"

Cause when it's black (it) means watch your back because you're probably
The last person in the world right now she wants to see
And when it's blue it means that you should call her up immediately
And ask her out because she'll most likely agree
And when it's green it simply means that she is really stressed
And when it's clear it means she's completely emotionless
(And that's all right I must confess)

We all know the girls that I am talking about
She liked you Wednesday but now it's Friday and she has to wash her hair
And it just figures that we'll never figure them out
First she's Jekyll and then she's Hyde
At least she makes a lovely pair

Mood ring oh mood ring
Oh tell me will you bring
The key to unlock this mystery
Of girls and their emotions
Play it back in slow motion
So I may understand the complex infrastructure known as the female mind

"Mood Rings," Relient K (from Two Lefts Don't Make A Right... But Three Do)
BWHAHAHAHAH! Such a *good* idea! No, seriously. Get everyone mood rings STAT!

On a completely different note, anyone know what to do when your sinuses are acting and making you dizzy? Besides popping Advil Cold & Sinus pills every 4 hours?

Internet has finally arrived at William Street! Except I'm doing this from the lab, since another family failed to turn up for the study, and I need to wait for a ride home. :oP A longer entry will come soon... maybe...

SONG OF THE MOMENT

I've been banging my head against the wall
For so long it seems I knocked it down, yeah it got knocked down
And the heating bill went through the roof
And the wall I knocked down was the proof
That my landlord needed to kick me out

I got evicted, now I'm living on the street
My spirits lifted... oh wait, that wasn't me
Too many turns have turned out to be wrong
This time I learned that, I knew it all along

When car crashes occur
Then I'll be what you were
When I see what I should
When I see that it's good (that it's good)

To experience the bittersweet
To taste defeat
Then brush my teeth
Experience the bittersweet
To taste defeat
Then brush my teeth

Cause I struggle with forward motion
I struggle with forward motion
We all struggle with forward motion
Cause forward motion is harder than it sounds
Well everytime I gain some ground
I gotta turn myself around again
It's harder than it sounds
Well everytime I gain some ground
I gotta turn myself around again

I've been banging my head against the wall
For so long it seems I got knocked out. yeah, I got knocked out cold
And the medical bills went through the roof
And the scar on my head is the proof
That I'll still remember this when I get old

I got evicted now I'm living on the street
My spirits lifted...oh wait, that was't me
Too many turns have turned out to be wrong
This time I learned that, I knew it all along

When I grasp the concept
Then I'll sleep where you slept
When I know I need help
When I allow myself (allow myself)

"Forward Motion," Relient K (from Two Lefts Don't Make A Right... But Three Do)
Definitely struggling with forward motion right now. That's how beginning of terms are, though...

Lots "accomplished" as of late. Here's the rundown...

Aug. 31 to Sept. 2 - Trip to Chicago
Make that trip to Michigan. You know, Chinese bus tours aren't half bad. Tourists behave by getting back on the bus on time, and it's not as rushed as I imagined it could be. First major stop was Prime Outlet Mall Birch Run, where jeans went for $5, and Kutless and Anberlin used CDs were sold (sweeeeeeeet!!!), not to mention a Bath & Body Works to satisfy my need for silky lotion. We then went to Frankenmuth where there is Bronner's Christmas Land or something like that (my sis went a little crazy with the ornaments... and I thought $25US was bad!) and walked around the little German village (never ceases to amaze me that when them Americans beautify their towns/cities, they do a heck of a great job!). After that was to our hotel at Soaring Eagle Casino... Casinos do good buffets, but the casino grounds reek of stinkin' smoke and misguided dreams of wealth. But hey, we ate for free, got free money, and enjoyed complimentary B&BW products!

Thursday was the actual day we were in Chicago. Started out in little Holland (which I believe is in Michigan), then at the Shedd Aquarium where we saw dolphin routines underwater. That was neat. Then off to downtown Chicago, where I really appreciated the architecture tour by boat after having touched on that stuff in ARTS 301 in the winter... I was like "yep, I know that Mies Van Der Rohe they keep mentioning." I wished we stayed longer in the city, though. Seeing the fountain, H&M (heh), John Hancock Centre (amazing view of 4 states!), and Chinatown (street, really) can hardly be called the Chicago experience.

Friday was mainly a on-the-road day, but we did stop by the Henry Ford museum back in Michigan. Being the history lover that I am, I'd go back, definitely!

And after the Chicago trip...
Saturday... Ceci came over and first we had pho, then we watched Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. Gotta love the angled kitchen!

Sunday... church, Sunday school class on charity (man, I think I should sit down with Brenda and share ideas!), then I learned to knit! It's about time... but I still need to get them edges down...

Monday... woke up around 9:30, but I plopped back into bed and was woken up by my sister 2 1/2 hours later asking me if I wanted to see The Constant Gardener. So off we went (with Qing) to the theatre... the movie was okay. It was kinda slow and subdued, but I was impressed by Ralph Fiennes' character's considerate-ness (is that a word? oh well, I ain't a tutor no mo'!).

On an entirely different note...
I always skip out on devos when I'm home in 'sauga. I gotta devote my time back to God and stop watching TV so much (even if I now get news from Manitoba!). Why is it so easy to squander God given resources away? Time, money, and energy? "Oh God, oh God, I needed You. All of this time, I needed You..." How this line rings true always...
