Just returned from an awesome WAY Summer Camp. The theme was "Pura Vida" - Pure Life - and our speaker Pastor Matt Silver shared some impactful messages on attaining purity in our lives. Get infected with HIV - honesty, integrity, and vulnerability - the key to living a life of purity. Of course, "it's not what you do, it's who you are"... we ultimately need God's help if we want purity in our lives. I think everyone who attended camp this year was touched by his message - thanks for pushing us to apply the things we learned from camp into our lives. I can only pray this can happen.

Now for the lighter stuff - GO TOFU!!! :o) Thanks to my fellow Eaters of Tofu... you guys are awesome! Proveable by our ranking... hehehe. Food was great this year (better than when I helped plan it a while back), and rec was fun (lots of new games... good stuff, even for me who dread rec times). My tentmates were awesome... sharing dish washing duties is... helpful! Not to mention the Pepsi... mmm... carbonated drink!

The sharing was wonderful... thanks to everyone who shared a bit of their lives to the rest of the fellowship. Proves we can be open and vulnerable. Who knew four hours of sharing wouldn't put me to sleep? Singing on the beach from 3-6am... that was awesome. Thanks, Angela, for our little talk on our spiritual lives.

My last WAY camp is my best one... thanks for all the wonderful memories and silliness! As pretty much all the grads said, you niners are awesome! Keep up your enthusiasm as you move on to 2-digit grade levels. And to the people left in our fellowship... I mean it when I said you guys are the revival generation. Live for God... prove He exists and love all of us through your actions. Live the REVIVAL!

On a totally different note, the government gave me an awesome surprise of a $3500 scholarship today! A pleasant gift after coming home from an awesome camp experience. Combined with the entrance one I got already, I actually don't have to pay anything for the coming term's tuition! Praise God for that... He definitely provides, even though I've been lazy this whole summer, doing nothing to help with my tuition situation. God is cool - all the time!

Well, I will leave you with Pastor Matt's theme song from our camp this year. Thank you for sharing the song with us...

SONG OF THE MOMENT

Here I am, once again
I pour out my heart for I know that you hear
Every cry, you are listening
No matter what state my heart is in

You are faithful to answer
With words that are true and a hope that is real
As I feel your touch
You bring a freedom to all that's within

In the safety of this place
I'm longing to...

Pour out my heart to say that I love you
Pour out my heart to say that I need you
Pour out my heart to say that I'm thankful
Pour out my heart to say that you're wonderful

"Pour Out My Heart", Craig Musseau

Watched Memento last night starring Guy Pearce... it was awesomely confusing! It was really well done... with the movie shown from the end to the beginning, kind of shows let's the viewer feel what having no short term memory feels like. I'm still trying to figure out what happened in the movie... it becomes that cryptic by the end of the movie. You might as well as take Polaroids like Leonard and write out what happened in each scene to figure it out. I think what actually happens is pretty straight forward, but it's the character's intentions and the time that's not shown that makes it so intriguing. Go out and rent it tonight...

Well, gotta work on some things for WAY camp coming up this Sunday. Lots of stuff to take care of there! Have fun in the last weeks of summer, people!

August 13, 2002, part two

Well, I've updated my new food section. It's got several other features that might scare you as you find out I have lots to say about the topic of food! But enjoy it anyways... it's another way of getting to know me better. ;o) Oh yeah, before I move on from my webpage, I also updated the photo section with more prom pics, "The Case For Faith" small group outing, and Kingdom Bound pics.

Went to see Signs on Sunday with my sis. It was pretty good... not overly scary, but it's got bits that will definitely make you jump out of your seat. Even veteran X-Files watchers like myself. I swear that in the whole theatre, not one person failed to jump at the first jumpy scene.

There is a good mix of humour and emotion in it, and a certain "actor" may make you laugh, as long as you know who this person is. The kids are great, especially the little girl. It makes for a good movie night event to take your youth group out to since the subject matter is related to faith. So, yeah, two thumbs up for this one.

While I'm talking about Sunday, the worship team surprised a delighted me by introducing the song God of Wonders off of the first City on a Hill CD. Beautiful song... fell in love with it when I first listened to it. God is a God of wonders... He never ever ceases to amaze me in new ways.

SONG OF THE MOMENT

Lord of Heaven and Earth
Lord of all creation
Lord of Heaven and Earth

Lord of all creation
Of water, Earth and sky
The Heavens are Your tabernacle
Glory to the Lord on high

God of wonders beyond our galaxy
You are holy, holy
The universe declares Your Majesty
You are holy, holy

Lord of Heaven and Earth
Lord of Heaven and Earth

Early in the morning
I will celebrate the light
When I stumble in the darkness
I will call your name by night

Hallelujah, to the Lord of Heaven and Earth
Hallelujah, to the Lord of Heaven and Earth
Hallelujah, to the Lord of Heaven and Earth

God of wonders, beyond our galaxy
You are holy, holy
Precious Lord, reveal Your heart to me
Father, holy, holy

The universe declares your Majesty
You are holy, holy, holy, holy

"God of Wonders", Marc Byrd and Steve Hindalong (from City on a Hill, performed by Mac Powell, Cliff and Danielle Young

Created the food section. Right now, it only contains links and my commentary on restaurants and eating places I like. Might feature some other stuff as it comes to me later. Okay... gotta sleep now. It's 4:07 am...

QUIZ TIME! Or quiz results time... here goes (I am THIS bored... enjoy):

[May 13, 2007 addendum: Graphics no longer exist.]

You’re Michelle Branch! You’re the ‘girl nextdoor’ type of gal. You’ve got a down-to-earth feel about you, and you’re not afraid to be original. You’re still trying to find yourplace in life, but that doesn’t mean you’re not enjoying the trip. Rich and famous? Sure! But you’re not gonna let that go to your head. ;D
What Kind of Pop Princess Are You? Quiz by Jonah

Okay... I can see this one happening. I wanna be a guitar playing, rocking girl! Yeah! Except singing Christian songs... just like... just like... umm... Rebecca St. James? I wonder if she plays the guitar...

[May 13, 2007 addendum: Graphics no longer exist. And I think the colour is brown? Perhaps red. I dunno.]

Interestingly, one of my new favourite colours to wear. ;o)

[May 13, 2007 addendum: Graphics no longer exist.]

There's only one God! But oh well... keep moving...

[May 13, 2007 addendum: Graphics no longer exist. Huh?]

This one was tough because, I don't even use makeup. Rank my makeup order? Lip balm... that's about it. ;o)

I took the McDonalds test, and guess what I got?

[May 13, 2007 addendum: Graphics no longer exist.]

Ice cream is yummy! :o) Maybe I should go and have a McFlurry... but their cones are cheaper!

[May 13, 2007 addendum: Graphics no longer exist. This is getting annoying-looking. Sorry.]

Owl, eh? I DO like to tell stories (a certain doggie poop at Holiday Inn one, lately), but talk to much? Hmm... do I ever talk at all? I'm typing now... ;o)

[May 13, 2007 addendum: Graphics no longer exist.]
You Are Violet
You surround yourself with art and music and are constantly driven to express yourself. You often daydream. You prefer honesty in your relationships and belive strongly in your personal morals.

Violet? It's pretty correct though...

[May 13, 2007 addendum: Graphics no longer exist.]
Newbie (21% - 40%)
You've started to learn that there is more to the internet than AOL. You've recovered from that email virus that wiped your hard drive and are thinking of getting DSL. You still tend to forward too many jokes and inspirational thoughts via email to your entire address book.

Laugh laugh laugh... LAUGH! And I have a homepage... hmm...

[May 13, 2007 addendum: Graphics no longer exist.]

A NERD! I always knew it... so did you, probably. ;o) Nerdy Vicki!

[May 13, 2007 addendum: Graphics no longer exist. Something about a pie?]

Whazzit taste like? Oh well. Hope it's yummy! Well, that concludes this quizzing adventure. Stay tuned for the latest news updates at the top of the hour (which would be 4 am). ;o)

August 8, 2002

I miss Kingdom Bound. Oh well... I guess Third Day's Come Together will compensate for missing their concert there! Maybe I'll go to their concert sometime in the fall... it's about time...

Okay, I need a life. I'm reading baby names FOR FUN! Oh well... I guess it's kinda fun. ;o) There's always WAY camp to look forward to - the prep work is crazy tho. Great time doing the "thingieing" that we did, eh, my two partners in crime? (Yeah right) Last WAY camp ever... hmmm...

Anyways, I am blabbing. It's one of those blabby days. If you're bored like me, play road trip ABC's! Authorized building caravan dodge...

I went to KINGDOM BOUND in New York over two days of the long weekend... and it was AWESOME! Didn't mind seeing Delirious? again for the second time this year - they are always a wonderful, God loving band. Dance on in the river! Wished I could stay for the entire four days, especially to watch Audio Adrenaline and Third Day (finally got Come Together at Bender's booth!), but the two days I was there will never be forgotten.

The rides at Six Flags Darien Lake were cool too... even went on Superman: Ride of Steel which I conquered. It was a cool ride... but I'm kinda scared to go back on it. Hehehe... and Grizzly Run - a way cooler version of White Water Canyon at Wonderland. So go on it, if you haven't already.

Going across the border was pretty fun... Americans have some cool snacks (better than Canadians, in some cases... but we'll always have Smarties!) and a way better Christian clothing selection. Surprised to have seen so many other Canadians at KB - wave those flags, guys! I was definitely very happy to see those Canadian flags wave... I think I saw more Canadian flags than American ones at Darien Lake itself (although the American flag was worked into various items all over the place... swim suits, hats...).

Well, that's one more wish to strike off my list. :o) Thank you so much to Huston and Ivy for taking us down, and Cecilia and Angela for the fun company. Remember to layer on the sunscreen! And do NOT plop onto a foreign bed even if you are about to fall asleep...

And people... start planning to go to Kingdom Bound 2003 with your buddies... you'll never forget the experience. I'll have the pics up as soon as I develop them!
