---Old News--- (The history of Puc)

01/06/2004 - The John Inness gig was incredible, the crowd reaction to Puc was great. Thanks to all those who came along and supported, the EP's sold out in a matter of minutes and the guys loved the attention they received. New song "Confess" went down well, or it might have been called "Execution", I can't remember...was too busy watching the chaos unfold. Danny and Jay ended up in the crowd at the end during "Patriotism".

Puc are taking a break now until the end of June to focus on examinations. But they will be returning to the live scene on 29th June at The Cartoon Club, Croydon so make it down if you can. The gigs page has more details.

20/05/2004 - A Demonstration EP is now available, can pick up a copy at Phungus Puc gigs. New date added, kind of short notice, Friday 28th May the boys are playing at John Innes Centre as part of a charity gig. Phungus Puc are main support, should be onstage around 9.15 PM. Summer gig dates are now beginning to be sorted:

June 29th - Cartoon Club Croydon

July 2nd - MeMu, Wimbledon

July 6th - The Peel, Kingston

May 1st and 15th gigs went well, May 1st is the tightest the band have ever sounded and "Kiss Me, I'm Emo" looks set to become a live favourite.

30/04/2004 - More gig dates for you, Phungus Puc will be playing with Pickled Dick on Saturday 15th May as part of a Sad Ed Promotions night. Also, a gig at The Cartoon, Croydon is in the works for Friday 21st May as part of the 'Rock For India' charity night organised by Danny and Ed to help the Wimbledon College aid group that are heading to India in July. Phungus Puc if the gig goes ahead will be supporting The Cutaway. The EP is being mass produced tonight and shall be available for sale at the cost of £3.00 at the Teddington gig tomorrow, hope to see you all down there.
25/04/2004
- The Charles Cryer gig saw Puc put on a much better peforming, featuring the legendary "Mosh For Jesus" and a drum solo from DK who found himself on a raised platform. Despite poor sound quality from a poor venue (it had seats for Christ's sake!) the boys still made a good impression, all credit to The Chase as well who we are hearing good things about. Thanks to all those who came down and to Greg from The Chase for landing Puc the support slot. The Peel gig for July has been confirmed, Puc will be supporting up and coming Johnny Panic who have been on Xfm's Music Response. Please all remember that Puc are playing live in Teddington on Saturday 1st May and we'd appreciate it if everyone got down there, DK is working on getting the 'A Demonstration EP' ready for the gig. We're also going to start work on some t-shirts, head over to the messageboard and let us know what you think about the designs and ideas that are flowing.
15/04/2004
- Phungus Puc played main support to Vesca last night at The Peel, Kingston as part of a Sad Ed Promotions night. Thanks to the sixty-nine people who turned up, they were treated to a great set with plenty of comical banter. If you'd like to see Puc again they are playing down in Carshalton at the Charles Cryer Theatre, tickets are £4.00 and for more details check out the Gigs page. The demo has been recorded at The Green and now been mixed, the artwork and CD copying is now beginning and it should be available for sale in two/three weeks time at the price of £3.00. It will feature; Move It Or Lose It, Sandy, Porn Song, Dis United Kingdom, Patriotism and Too Young To Live. Also check out the NEW messageboard, its a proper one, with accounts and forums and stuff like that - so use it or lose it hehe.
06/04/2004
- Holy shit! An update...right well lots has been happening, Portsmouth gig went well, Puc made more friends than enemies. More gigs have been added, Puc may well be headlining The Peel, Kingston on Tuesday 6th July, more details as they are confirmed. MeMu gig for July 2nd will be confirmed around the end of the month. A new gig has been added, Des The Tiny Child are organising a gig at St. Mark's Hall, Teddington for the first weekend of May....Puc have been invited to play. Recording wise, The Green is proving to be very useful and new songs are coming out....demo is being recorded over the next few days, rumoured to feature "Sandy" and "Patriotism", we'll see how it goes. Elsewhere on the site, the lyrics have been updated.
10/03/2004
- A studio has been found, titled The Green it shall be used by Phungus Puc for a quick rehearsal ahead of the gig in Portsmouth on Saturday. New songs including 'Too Young To Live' should be coming out of the closet (like one of the band members) very soon. Good luck to all of you brave enough to head down to Portsmouth.
26/02/2004
- New gig added, Puc will be playing in Wallington on Saturday 17th April supporting The Chase and Half Arsed. Check the gigs page for details, the band page is now fully finished. DK's made a discovering with some technology and is working out a demo, some recording should be going down in the next few weeks. The aim is to get something on CD ready for The Peel on April 14th.
16/02/2004
- The Vent very well, Puc played well considering the changed line-up. Good to see the message board is buzzing with people. Updated the band page, will be finished soon. Creature Feature will be updated tomorrow and added another live date, Puc will be playing MeMu again on July 9th.
14/02/2004
- Phungus Puc put on one hell of a performance last night at MeMu, playing rather high up the bill they came on to quite a big reception and proceeded to start the most violent moshpit of the night. Thanks to all those who came along to support, we hope to see you down at The Vent! Oh...and Happy Valentines Day! The band page is almost done, check it out!
07/02/2004
- Another two live dates added, Phungus Puc will be supporting $up, Pickled Dick and Complex GSL at the Horseshoe, Portsmouth. YES THAT DOES SAY PORTSMOUTH! Puc have also been confirmed for this years Glastonsurrey, their spiritual gigging home...amazing how far you can get in a year. Band practiced today and Jay had this to say:

"had a good practice today, we are ready for MeMu and The Vent now :-)" - make sure you get yourself along to these gigs, The Vent tickets are going fast so get onto www.oxygen-online.org and reserve yours as soon as possible. MeMu tickets are also still available.

02/02/2004 - Gigs page has been updated. Two new shows added, Puc will be playing an acoustic set at The Vent, Kingston on Valentines Day. Unfortunatly Daniel M will be out of the country so no bass but it should be a class night. Another Sad Ed gig is also in the works, Wednesday 14th April (that's Easter holidays), supporting Vesca and Putsch at The Peel, Kingston.
28/01/2004
- The Sad Ed gig at the King's Head went really well, here is a message from Jay for all your Puc fans:

Well, how the hell are you doing? It's Jay here and I wanted to say thanks to everyone that came along to our gig and i also want to remind you we have a gig @ The Memu in Wimbledon on Friday 13th Febuary! (day before valentines, hint hint ;-)) Anyways there is talk of getting a split E.P. done with our good friends Putsch.

Peace Out

Jay xxx

17/01/2004 - Phungus Puc now have a profile on The Vent (Oxygen) website, you can check it out at: http://www.oxygen-online.org/bandspot/PP
16/01/2004
- King's Head show is fast approaching. Got a practice in today and it's sounding good, a new song is almost ready to be debuted and a cover song will be done...what it is you shall have to wait and see. Puc will be on at 8pm so make sure you are down there early to get a few drinks in beforehand...some nudity has also been promised. According to Sad Ed, the gig may well sell out! Added a lyrics page, and updated the Biography.
30/12/2003
- Patriotism video was recorded yesterday, expected to be online around March. Flyers for King's Head gigs are now available, will scan a copy in and email it round. Took some good pics of the band in action.
29/12/2003
- King's Head show is confirmed, Phungus Puc will be part of the support for The Pirate Fiasco, along with Dangerous Pie and Putsch. See gigs page for details.
23/12/2003
- Phungus Puc will be playing the King's Head, Fulham on January 23rd 2004. Check gigs page for more details.
08/09/2003 (8:10pm)
- Updated a minor glitch with the band profiles, the pictures on the profiles should work fine now. Lyrics page will be ready soon, it will contain lyrics for a number of Phungus Puc songs so you can be in good voice when the Puc start to appear live. Added a contact address on the live dates page for you to contact the MEMU gig for more information, please show interest in this and they will be more likely to book us.
06/09/2003 (8:00am)
- Changed the opening page a little, put the emphasis on dis-united kingdom, was reading the lyrics the other night and just scribbled down a couple of lines relating from that one line. Updated Phungus Puc Live page. A demo of "Sandy" will be available on CD, limited number of copies will be made, let us know on the message board how much you are willing to pay for one, I reckon £2 should do it. Ed is working with Al Arthurs to try and secure a reasonable price for the demo CD.
05/09/2003 (7:19am)
- Working on getting the Phungus Puc demo put out on CD format in the next two months. We have a contact offering us a good deal to put the mini-disc songs onto a CD with complete art work and on-CD printing. DK's doing the editing of the songs and they should hopefully be ready by October. The demo will definitely include, "Dis-United Kingdom", "Patriotism", "Sandy", "You + Me" and "The Porn Song".
30/08/2003 (8:49am)
- DK posted an update about how the 26th and 27th recordings went:

"So yeah, Tuesday's studio jam started off bad, with Daniel M not recieving any of my messages to him, so he was late, and Jay being late and not having any lyrics with him. After that it got good with our fuck about jam getting a few things done then going a bit sick and pulling off some cool stuff you may get to hear sometime. Wednesday's jam was great, we got four songs recorded, would have been five but we have misplaced some lyrics somewhere, and Ed is the only person left with a copy. Not only that, but Danny improved upon his solo in Patriotism, which was nice. The only downfall is that the Porn Song hasn't come out too well on the Mini Disk. Jay took it home and said it's all scratchy and bad, but the other three are sorted. Since coming home I've been sitting with Danny's old guitar plugged into the mixer getting some rough ideas down for yet another song, all lyrics done on it, but a lot of work still needs to be done music wise. When i get a copy of what we have recorded, I will begin recording the drums to do proper versions of the songs and maybe even put these demo versions online for you all."

The guys will be working on some songs tonight to try and nail that perfect sound, we're working on those live dates. Phungus Puc Live section of the website will be coming soon, remember if you want a band to play at your birthday party then I think they'll do it (for free).

22/08/2003 (9:03am) - Review of Rancid's new album Indestructable added. Next tuesday will see the boys back in the studio to finally lay down this demo. There are also rumoured to be two gigs around Halloween with Phungus Puc playing, we'll keep you posted. I'm away for a week so no site updates until around August 30th.
21/08/2003 (7:23am)
- Tuesday saw the three Daniel's having a musical jam. Reports are that it went will and they are sounding tight and together. DK also informed me that a 'ska' song is being worked on, should be interesting. The wednesday jam was cancelled after Jay was unable to attend and the band were unable to put down a demo onto mini-disc. Plans are now being made for a session on tuesday to try and capture five or six songs on mini-disc.
19/08/2003 (11:43am)
- Added a review of Serafin's new album No Push Collide.
19/08/2003 (8:18am)
- Back from V2003 now, was a great time...I'm up early, I think I have an early morning complex. Today the Daniel's will be jamming to really gel together the music of the Puc in the studio and will try and record onto mini-disc their individual parts for tracks which should make it easier to edit. Tomorrow will see the whole band back in the studio for four hours to run through every song available and try and record as much as possible.
07/08/2003 (7:57pm)
- Updated a few of the whole band pics, DK's posted a short update on the message board if you want to read it.
04/08/2003 (8:45am)
- The reviewing machine that is DK has done another one, Finch are subject to a nose-bashing in the album review section, find out what DK thought of their album 'What It Is To Burn'. Remember if you have any reviews then please send them in. Things are pretty quiet for the Puc at the moment due to band member holidays, however towards the end of the month then things should get a bit more noisy. Two news songs emerged from a jam between Jay and Danny, 'You + Me' and 'The Porn Song' look set to be added to Puc's ever expanding roster of songs. 'The Porn Song' is a short little ditty about well, porn! 'You + Me' is a beautiful slow burning epic of a song, it'll rip your heart out and have you swaying in time with Danny's perfect acoustic sturmming. Hopefully Puc will get the chance to debut the songs live at some point next month.
19/07/2003 (9:18am)
- Easyworld review is up, check it out if you feel a need. (Hopefully you do!) I forgot to tell you that DK informed me a few days ago that the song 'Q & A' has been worked on and is taking shape.
18/07/2003 (5:22pm)
- Put a new review up today, Serafin from wednesday night, have a read and if you want to come and see them give me a shout. I saw Easyworld last night and they inspired me to work on some lyrics that I've had buzzing around my head, so I'll give them to DK or Danny and attempt to get something going. As it is the holidays I can hopefully work a bit more on the site!
08/07/2003 (7:42pm)
- The site may often be down over the next week as we attempt to really work on everything and get all the pictures finished, so do not be alarmed. DK, Ed and Alex managed to get some work done on a new song today, 'Q & A' is the working title and should hopefully be finished up as soon as we get a second verse. The band, minus Jay (who is going on holiday soon) will be recording some material to be mixed and hopefully put onto CD soon.
29/06/2003 (9:50pm)
- Earlier today then Phungus Puc played their first ever live gig together, after much deliberation they arrived at a setlist...and after a short wait for Jay then the gig got underway. As part of 'Glastonsurrey' they were second on the "stage" and played very well for a first outing. The set consisted of the intro, 'Dis-United Kingdom', 'Letters to God', 'Sandy' and 'Patriotism' complete with Danny's truly stunning solo! Well done lads and everyone involved! Oh and Danny's girlfriend for screaming so loud inbetween and during songs...rock....!
25/06/2003 (7:00am)
- Added another review to the gigs section, I'm getting good at that. Band is practising hard for their first gig this weekend, at 'Glastonsurrey'...a six song set is rumoured to be played, I'm afraid it's an invite only gig as it will be the band's first performance with the new line-up.
19/06/2003 (5:49pm)
- I've changed the picture gallery for Danny. I recieved some feedback that you were having difficulty on slower computers quickly viewing all the pictures, so I've put a thumbnail index in so you can see all the pictures of Danny in mini-view and then click it to bring up a larger scale pic. Any problems then drop an email through or post me a message on the message board, all feedback appreciated. A jam should be happening over the weekend, more details as they emerge...also Phungus Puc are definitely a part of 'Glastonsurrey' but are unable to play the MEMU July 18th gig due to Jay being away on holiday. However, Phungus Puc will most likely be playing the MEMU gig in September to make up for this...and Jay has promised a number of gigs soon. Plus the band will be covering "Boys Of Summer" by The Ataris!
11/06/2003 (8:55am)
- Started work on the Puc'ers section, this is slowly taking shape, check it out. I've added the 'Puc of Fame' section and also got the Mailing List available for you to register with, please sign up, only takes two minutes. DK's photo gallery is complete, I've really been working hard this morning.
09/06/2003 (8:51am/5:43pm)
- The 'History' page has been updated, to include a little something about Jay. Also on the message board then the logo which appears in the background has been removed, it was making the text hard to read for people. I am working on making it so the logo is not repeated across the screen. Also will have a page up soon so you can get yourself registered on a Phungus Puc mailing list. I also took a break from revision for Theology and listened to the new Radiohead album, you can read my review of it in the album reviews section.
07/06/2003 (9:54pm)
- Added a 'Whole Band Pics' section, hope you all enjoy them, more to come of course, just a few to wet the appetite. Mono and DK picture gallerys are on their way. Also Phungus Puc may be playing 'Glastonsurrey', more news as it comes!
04/06/2003 (3:06pm)
- First update for June, just a short one to say that a few more pics of Danny have been put up, almost finished his gallery now. Head over to the message board and join in the great "What Cover Shall Phungus Puc Do At The First Gig" debate!
30/05/2003 (8:39am)
- And they've finally found what they're looking for...Jay is now the vocalist of Phungus Puc after well, he sang about ten seconds of a Box Car Racer track, it was just impressive! He has a voice that well it's Blink style, with a slightly Michael Jackson edge and it sounds great. 'Sandy' was fully recorded, with the new lyrics, and Jay fitted right into the song and made it his own. Jay's profile is now up for you to read, and once I get all the pictures up you can see what the new guy looks like. Well done to DK for finding him! I've got a bit of Danny's picture gallery up...christ it's baking hot!
29/05/2003 (8:02am)
- Early start again, sun is shinning and thats a good omen as today is a big day for Phungus Puc. Once again they are back in the Barnsfield studio to attempt to lay down a new version of 'Sandy' which is gaining a cult following...and more importantly Jay is joining the band to try his vocal skills. I shall have my digital camera with me to try and capture the pain, agony and ecstasy of the possible new vocalist as he attempts to strut his stuff...I hope this all goes well! Shall report back later with what happened.
22/05/2003 (7:28am)
- 'Talash Says...' is our brand new feature, you can now have the power and knowledge of Talash's random facts to baffle and confuse your friends!
20/05/2003 (9:27am)
- Couple of new album reviews up and our first festival review is up thanks to Alex, he's turning into a reviewing machine like DK! I am working with Talash to produce a brand new and exciting feature for the site, will be up within the next couple of days.
19/05/2003 (7:37am)
- Two new gig reviews are up, for Feeder and The Wildhearts so take a look at those if you get a moment. Remember if you agree or disagree with a review then post on the message board and let the reviewer know your thoughts! Myself and DK today will be enquiring about the possible gig on July 18th, attempt to get more information about it.
18/05/2003 (9:15pm)
- I cracked on with some new stuff this afternoon after my revision and the Grand Prix. The links section is now up, so take a look and you could discover some other great sites like this one, be sure to check out the links to other local bands, they need your support just as much as we do! The reviews section is gradually taking shape, a slow process but I am finally getting all the old reviews from the old site up on there, DK is like a reviewing machine, might get a few of my own up if there are any left. Feel free to send us your reviews, bit boring if it is always the same few reviewers. Also just tweaked the band history slightly. Good luck to all those who have exams this week!
16/05/2003 (7:28am)
- I'm up early again, reviews section is slowly beginning to take shape. Thanks to Alex for contributing his reviews, remember feel free to send us a review on any gig, album, single or festival you've been to. Hope you're all enjoying the newish looking message board.
15/05/2003 (8:04am)
- Hard to believe but Daniel M has finally got his profile, incredible it is! Check it out and if you want to leave a message for the 'Big Bird' himself then head on over to the Phungus Puc message board and join in the fun. It's almost like a living, breathing community of punk....well not really!
14/05/2003 (10:14pm)
- Sorted the mistakes out with the site, Geocities went a bit crazy when DK tried to get technological! Anyhow, the history page is now up and Danny and DK's page now have a picture for their profile. Poor old Mono will get his profile tomorrow if all goes well. Danny's photo gallery should also get done in the next couple of days. And the Puc'ers section, expect to be able to sign up during half-term! If you believe the news on the message board then the band are in talks with a lead singer, the excitement!
13/05/2003 (9:52pm)
- Site looks better now I think, hope you like the little scrolling pictures below. Dan K's page is almost up and ready and profiles will have pictures soon. Also a short history of Phungus Puc will be available for you to read soon!
13/05/2003 (7:27am)
- Changed the main logo, a nice shade of green. Will be putting the rest of the pics into their right places soon.
12/05/2003 (7:22am)
- Photos will be uploaded on tuesday, will try and get them onto the right pages as soon as possible. Starting with Danny, as he has the most photos (What a suprise!) Might try and change the layout of the site soon.
18/04/2003 (8:23am)
- The photo's from the jam session are taking a while to load up, my file transfer is buggered so I'll try and do it today from a mates house. Dan (Drums) will be interviewed today hopefully and his page will be up soon. "Sandy" now has four verses and a possible chorus, and next week could see a re-recording to try and perfect the song. I'll also we adding the 'Puc'ers!' page soon so you can get involved in helping to promote the band.
16/04/2003 (8:43am)
- Danny's page has gone up with all the info I have available so far, expect a couple more details to appear soon. Photos of the blonde one will be ready at some point nearer the end of the week.
15/04/2003 (9:46pm)
- Phungus Puc rocked today in the studio, and a brand new song is fully recorded and could well be ready. "Sandy" came out of nowhere really and with Ed again penning some lyrics a pop-punk anthem was born, Danny's vocals are coming on and it sounds very nice :) I interviewed Danny for his page today and that will go up shortly.
15/04/2003 (8:29am) - Added a new message board, feel free to post whatever you want on it. Expect band members to make official posts from time to time. Recording process part II today!
14/04/2003 (9:02pm) - First jam session for quite a while and I can safely say that the band sound really good, however, vocals are a problem. A new song has emerged, called "Walking Down The Road" written by Ed of all people, close band friend, Alex, appears to be taking vocals for the track which has a real jumpy chorus. An old "Happy-2-Oblige" track is also being re-worked and having lyrics added. However the search for a permanent vocalist will continue. All going well there will be a 3/4 track demo ready by the end of tomorrow.
14/04/2003 (8:40am)
- Today sees the beginning of the Phungus Puc recording process, two days at 'The Peel' should see hopefully a demo ready for you all to listen to. We shall keep you posted with regular updates on the next two days and how they are going. A digital camera is being taken and I will be snapping the band in action.
