The Story of Phungus Puc is a long one, and I'm not sure if it's that interesting, but I suppose it has to be done. It all starts back before that dreary May afternoon in which Phungus Puc was born. Let me take you back, back to 2001, back to Happy 2 Oblige.

Happy 2 Oblige initially consisted of Daniel Monaghan, Daniel McDonnell, Daniel Knight and Charles Flaconer. Charles had been playing guitar for around 6 months when the four friends decided to form a band. This is where the three Puc'ers found a bond of sorts, as they all began to learn their respective instruments at the same time. The summer of 2001 is arguably one of the best summerís for these three. I say three because Charles spent the entire summer in Ireland, but that's going off the point.

Through some good fortune, and the fact that Daniel Knight's mum worked in a school, a veritable rehearsal studio was erected in the library of this school.

It was well worth it and Danny, Daniel and DK found themselves getting to grips with what they were doing and even writing their very first song, minus lyrics of course.

To make matters even sweeter, Daniel was in full control of this studio, leading to many a day spent in there playing music, fucking around, and eventually getting bollocked at for letting everyone they knew into the empty school.

After a lot of line up changes, and a year of playing together, Happy 2 Oblige decided to split, the band was formed out of friendship rather than similar musical taste, so everyone knew it was happening.

It was at this thought of the demise of H2O that in May of 2002 the Daniel's reformed as Phungus Puc, all itching to play some punk rock, including Daniel Knight's then girlfriend filling on second guitar. In June 2002 Happy 2 Oblige played their third and final gig, and it was amazing.

From that point Phungus Puc went full blown into musical creativity, well sort of. It was more like Daniel and his girl spending time creating riffs and lyrics, which came quite naturally due to the fact that even Daniel had some experience on the guitar and had been writing for many years.

Sadly, Daniel and his girlfriend broke up, it was rather messy and due to a lot of heartache at the time, Daniel asked her to just leave him be. During their time together they had created over an album's worth of songs, and the ones which Daniel initially wrote will be kept and used as soon as possible.

That brings us up to today, Phungus Puc are trying to take a better approach to their music, with Daniel Knight spending hours improving on the riffs he wrote, so that Daniel McDonnell can turn them into something amazing.

Two incredible days in the Barnfield Studio, courtesy of James from Awkward Silence, showed that there is pure passion and talent just waiting to be harnassed and songs such as "Sandy" are just damn catchy, and are sure to take the US and UK charts by storm and be played on MTV around the clock! Mono proves to be a reliable bassist, and Danny as unpredictable as ever! Thanks to Alex and Ed for helping out and providing support.

Thankfully they have someone to help them along this road, the first of Phungus Puc's Puc'ers, or close friends that help the band. This Puc'er comes in the form of Ed Walker, site owner, PR man, and lyrical mastermind, no really he is! It's his organisational skills that have helped everyone, and he has been spending a particular amount of his time throwing lyrical ideas to Daniel Knight so that songs will be more complete.

On the 29th of May 2003 Phungus Puc got more than they bargained for.  They got Jay Webster, vocalist extrodanair.  They knew, when they found out he was the singer for the ex-Average Joes that he would be good, but he's brought a whole new professional (kinda) sound to the scene.  So, now they come complete with vocalist and this has led to a new approach, an approach with more effort. Which is nice.

The Phungus Puc live experience has already been experienced twice, the first was at Glastonsurrey...one hell of a festival that was, put the real Glastonbury to shame! Phungus Puc played a four song set, ending in a stunning version of Patriotism, a song about the lack of Englishness we find ourselves having...complete with a guitar solo that really needs a windswept mountain and aerial camera view.

The bright lights of Wimbledon followed next, and MEMU gave Phungus Puc a chance. Opening up the Haloween gig a cover of Ghostbusters was phenomenal, a good solid set but a few problems were shown. The band have been working flat out to prepare for their third gig, part of Sad Ed promotions they are one of the support bands for The Pirate Fiasco and are set to stun the crowd with their punk rock blend that could well surprise a few.

Thank your for your support, we hope to see you bouncing in our moshpit.
