AUTOBIOGRAPHY

It was May 19, 1985 when I was born to Mr. Pedro Bides and Mrs. Leticia Bides. I was named after my grand fathers, Erning and John. We are two in the family, his name is Michael Perlette. He is younger by nine years.

My parents are graduates of Martinez General Hospital and Centro Escolar University with a Degree in Bachelor of Science in Medical Technology. When I turned two years old my father opted to work abroad as a Medical technologist at the Ministry of Health in Oman. My mother works at a Medical and Dental Clinic for ten years.

During my early childhood days my mom keeps on telling me how she felt when she’s in labor of me. It took her almost 28 hours in pain before I was decided to be delivered thru the caesarian section at the Chinese General Hospital in Manila.

Everybody is excited in the family because I was first grandchild in the family. My grandparents Tatay Erning and Nanay Ceding are the once who took care of me till I turn two years old. My parents are both working, as I recall they just brought me to our house on weekends.

After my second birthday my parents decided that I shall stay with them, I had then a yaya who took care of me for four years. During theis time I learned to use the phone dialed my Lolo’s telephone number and have a long chat with them. I also learned to sing. As I remembered the songs of Jose Marie Chan are the once I usually sang.

There are times my mother would take me in her work. It is here where I was asked by her boss to join the Healthy Smile Contest of the Philippine Dental Association NCR Chapter. Candidates should know some talents and most importantly should have healthy teeth. We went as early as I could recall, there are many candidates coming from the different PDA chapters. Luckily after the long queue I was chosen as one of the fifteen finalists. The following day, we were again presented for the final evaluations. I was sixth place in the ranking. We were then awarded with a trophy, cash, and products from Colgate. At first I felt hesitant to join but thru the encouragement of my parents I was force to join and later knew that thru this way I had learned to develop my self-confidence.

My pre-schools day started at Holy Angels Montessori in Cubao, Quezon City, and then when we transferred in Novaliches I studied at Holy Child Academy. My primary grades were spent at St. James School of Quezon City. When I was in grade 5 I transferred at Francisco School in Baesa where I finished my high school also. We were encouraged to join different organization and activities such as CAT drills where in we compete with different schools. Cheer Dance Contest is also an exciting activity for me because here we developed sportsmanship. At my senior years in our school I had experienced to teach Chemistry during the Teacher’s Day. To coincide with the celebration I was also chosen to teach at a Public Elementary School for a couple of days.

As the second semester approaches I started to prepare for my entrance examination at the University of Santo Tomas and Mapua Institute of Technology and later on passed the said exams. My uncle Engr. Rodrigo Gonzales is a graduate of MIT is now connected with the Saudia Airlines. He is one of those who had inspired me to take ECE. And hopefully with the guidance of His Almighty I would also be able to follow his footsteps.
