HOW TO MAKE A DARKROOM? |
| You can make a darkroom by yourself by converting your bathroom. It is ideal to have no windows in your bathroom, but if there is one, simply cover it with a plywood board. A darkroom MUST have: - a sink - a red light bulb - an enlarger It is better to have a clear and a red light bulbs in a darkroom. A sink is mandatory because you need to wash your negatives AS SOON AS POSSIBLE after the development process. TIPS: - Attach a tube to the water tap. It will make it easier to flush water into a container (with the negatives insider). - Do not use a bright red light bulb. Try to get one which is AS DIM AS POSSIBLE, because too bright a red light bulb also tends to demage the photo paper. - It is unnecessary to buy an expensive enlarger. In fact, when developing black and white negatives, different kinds of enlargers make virtually no difference on the result. - If you don't want to buy an enlarger, you can make one. Find a desktop light and place your negative in between the light and the photo paper. You will realize that as you move the negative up and down, the size of the image projected onto the photo paper also changes. (When you move it up, the image is larger; when down, smaller.)
