Dear Mark,

Having recently received a circular stating “Will you earn £50,000 in the next 60 days” I am somewhat intrigued.

I have never been one for these type of Chain Letters before, having had my hopes doused many years ago when I was about 8 years old. In that situation I was promised postcards from 10,000’s of people from around the world if I copied out a similar list and forwarded it to 10 friends. Well, having done so I eventually received a lonely one postcard, perhaps the rest are still in the pipeline.

Well, in theory, this £50,000 in 60 days is feasible, but knowing what folk are like, i.e. just sending out these letters without forwarding the £1 to the top five names listed, I am wondering just how successful you have been.

The list (copy enclosed) is exactly as I received it, although the top bit on this copy is missing. The full wording is “I have made nearly £2,000 so far so thought I would share my success with my old friends from Quest etc.” Well, Gemma’s name is the last on the list, so I’m wary about the accuracy of this statement as surely there hasn’t been enough time for the venture to pyramid yet!.

Without going into too much detail about how much you have received, would you be kind enough to inform me about whether you personally have found this chain letter to bring in the sort of monies it promises?

  Yours sincerely,

                                    Paul K Skelton.

P.S.

Sorry, no £1 enclosed, but you have been shunted off the top of this list, but I enclose an S.A.E. for a reply. I’ll assume that no reply means, “not worth the trouble entering in this venture.”

I actually only had time to post this letter today (8th May) so have received no reply yet, but as soon as I do it'll be posted on this same web site for all to see.

Still nothing 16th May.

Similar letters have also gone out to the other five addresses on the list, along with the £, so I am within the law of the chain letter.

To date, I HAVE NOT sent any letters to other addresses from any mailing list company, BUT I do have 200 names and addresses I have ready to send. I randomly picked the addresses from phone books, so that has saved me £20 as estimated in the chain letter.
