| 1/5 - Two Deputies Killed - Morongo/Whitewater: When answering a domestic disturbance call two Riverside County Sheriffs deputies where shot and killed shortly after exiting their cars. A man lay in wait for them in the brush and shot them from a distance. Photography of the scene the next morning. Graphic. Aired KABC, KTTV. | 1/6 - High Winds Topple Trucks/Big Rig Falls on CHP Car - I-15: High winds close Interstate 15 for many miles after several Trucks are blown over. | 1/14 - Campers Rescued from Snow: A camping party of 1 adult and 3 children were caught in a snow storm on Mt. San Gorgonio. Using a cell phone they called 911 and directed Search & Rescue helicopters to their location. One by one they were airlifted from 9'000 feet to a landing zone at a lower elevation that was accesible only by snowmobile or snowcat. | 3/21 - Fatal Accident - Yucaipa: A teen age boy is killed and several of his friends are injured when the driver of the pickup truck they were riding in lost control rounding a curve. The teens were apparently ejected from the rear of the truck which then struck a home, shearing off the homes gas meter. The surrounding area was evacuated. Aired: KNBC. |
