What you're not supposed to know about the Ontario Driver's Licence
Do you want to know a few well-kept secrets of the Ontario Driver's Licence? Then read on...

Just because a Driver's Licence has a picture of you, STOP AND THINK.This does not mean it can be used as Photo ID. When anyone asks you to produce a Driver's Licence don't let that fool you. We've been conditioned to think that a Driver's Licence or a Passport with a picture on it, is what's required for Photo ID. There is no law that defines what constitutes Photo ID.

The government has been selling and continues to sell your personal and confidential information that you volunteer when you apply for or renew a driver's licence. If someone sold your personal information without your knowledge and gave you nothing in return, how would that make you feel? Talk about being cheated blind! How can you trust those who do not tell you the whole truth?

If you don't want your picture taken, download the
"Application for Photo Exemption" and print it out. Email the website author for instructions on how to fill it out and who to submit this to. If you ask the staff at the Driver's Licence Renewal offices throughout Ontario, they usually don't know. They don't even have the application for you to look at.

Did you know that you've always had a choice about whether or not to get a Driver's Licence?
