The Great Western Quartet Convention
April 10-12, 2003
The Great Western Quartet convention was held at the Sacramento Memorial building in downtown Sacramento. There were about 20 groups who sang throughout the 3 nights. The crowd was packed and the singers were excellent.. Here were some of my favorites.
I am standing in between the Henry girls from the Herb Henry Family. On the left is Amanda Henry, an absolutely riot, and on the right is Angela, a sweetheart! I was so glad to get to see them sing! What talent!!
Claude and Connie Hopper were also there with their group singing.. It was Shoutin' Time for about an hour!
This was my first time to meet Stewart Varnado at the convention and he was, not only extremely talented, but so very nice...Stewart plays piano for the Dixie Echoes. (Thanks Shay for the hook up....  ;) )
And last but certainly not least, Randy "Scoot" Shelnut Jr. was at the convention with his group the Dixie Echoes. I was able to introduce myself to him because of a connection through a friend and we were able to chat for a bit. (Once again..thanks for the hook, Shay...)
If you get a chance, go listen to these groups perform in a church near you!
