Students do not pay for the telephone calls.
Tutors do not pay for the telephone calls.
We do. And we have arranged it so that phone calls are very cheap.
It is helpfull that both teacher and student can read the questions at the same time. This can be easily done in Phone Tuition if:
a) Teacher and Student have different copies of the same book.
b) Student sends (email/fax) a copy of some questions before (or even during) the lesson.
c) Teacher sends (email/fax) a copy of the extra questions before (or even during) the lesson.
a) ALL students and tutors MUST HAVE: a telephone line. A normal (regular) land-line. Mobile phone calls are more expensive. Remember that you do not pay the phone calls, we do.
b) SOME students and tutors MIGHT HAVE: access to internet or fax. You are probably one of them if you are reading these lines. This equipment is helpful, but not compulsory.
c) MANY students and tutors DO NOT HAVE: a webcam, ADSL connection, a hands-free telephone set. They do not need to.They do not need to see each other's faces. They can always hold the telephone with one hand and write with the other one, and they rarely exchange emails, anyway.
This is very important for language learning. Learning a language means improving speaking, listening (easily done over the phone), but also reading and writing. This is why we recomend all our language students to have access to internet.
Every so often your language teacher will send you a reading task and/or ask you to send a written task to be corrected. This is what we call an email exchange (can also be fax). It is considered worth around 30' of teaching.
