I realize that i am an asshole, and that this site is meant to be a parody, a (soon to be) massive amalgam of satire against things that annoy me, but please, bear with me on a serious issue, my friend and comrades.
Upon reading this, and so many other articles akin to it(Though not of the same subject), i am convinced that there is a standing army of idiots.
The date is seven months ago, at the bottom of the page, but old wounds can still cause damage, so i figure i'd better sterilize this problem before it gets infected with the disease of stupidity.
Mr. Rall, in the first paragraph, scolds American soldiers in Iraq, saying that they are, and i quote, "Virtually indistinguishable from the SS.".
Nevermind that this is a broad generalization, and that Rall probably never did any research on the German SS.
He scolds American soldiers because they "Cordon off and bomb civilian villages to retaliate against guerilla attacks on their convoys."
Nevermind that these 'guerillas' are Islamic whackos who see everyone else as infidels, and nevermind the fact that they are PARTISANS, civilian soldiers, if you will, and that we don't bomb villages at random.
He posts another broad generalization in saying that these prisoners, who have no rights under the Geneva Convention by the way(I'll get to that in a second), are repeatedly beaten, sodomized with a chemical light stick or broomstick, and then links such horrible acts to ALL OF OUR SOLDIERS.
He's implied it. It's disgusting.
So, Mr. Rall, where's your concrete proof? Your source?
A "government report"? What government report? Surely if you know about it, then it wouldn't hurt to GIVE THE SOURCE, would it?
I mean, sure, you can quote some fellow who read it, but would you care to post a link to the report, an unedited version? Y'know, so that we can decide for ourselves?
And then you tell us not to "be fooled by military apologists"?
Isn't that the least bit hypocritical, Mr. Rall?
Maybe it's just me and my silly logic, but i want to see a link or something.
This is America, after all, where we're supposed to make an informed decision and think for ourselves.
Now, allow me to explain, to those unschooled in the ways of warfare(Which means you too, Mr. Rall.), why terrorists have no Geneva Convention rights.
Name. Rank. Serial number.
If a United States Marine were held as a prisoner of war, he would have a name, rank, and serial number to distinguish himself as such.
When you're a terrorist, all you have is the name.
For Geneva Convention rights to be in effect, you have to be under one established government, you must have a command hierarchy(which means rank), and hence, must have a serial number given by your military.
These terrorists have no rank. They have no serial number.
They are civilian soldiers, and if anything, THEY are putting Iraqi civilians in harm's way by hiding amongst said civilians.
I'm not saying guerilla attacks in and of themselves are cowardly, they are tactically feasible in some situations, but hiding among civilians when you know damned good and well that you have Marines on your tail is like putting your neighbor in front of you when a tidal wave comes.
NAME. RANK. SERIAL NUMBER, YOU TERRORIST PIECES OF FILTH.
That's what you need.
Don't get me wrong, i don't think that excessive torture, such as is described in Mr. Rall's article, is right.
The specific people actually inflicting such torture should and likely will be punished.
But not all soldiers. Not even half. No, not even a third.
Stop demonizing the military, Mr. Rall, it reminds me of a certain speech, by a certain Senator who lost a certain recent election....
