| First of all this was one kick-ass rock show. After standing in line waiting for the doors to open for around 4 hours, having to listen to a stuck up "hoity-toity yankee bitch" complain that she's not close enough to the door, and using a promo t-shirt to shield myself from the cold drizzle, I was more than ready to let out some agressions in the form of rockin out. Starting it all off was one of my newly discovered bands, SUBMERSED. The lead singer, Doug, let us in on the fact that since this show was the last of their tour together to prepare ourselves for some pranks. Needless to say, after about a half an hour of hard rock music, the lead singer and lead guitarist coming over to give me (and a few select front row ppl) high fives; the pranks ensued. My first sighting of the band I had been longing for since high school was off to the side of the stage. Mark Tremonti and Scott Phillips of Alter Bridge had snuck up the side-stage stairs with bottles of water that ended up splashing just about everything on and near the stage. As for the performance of Submersed, this is definitely a band I would recommend you to check out. They play a great live show and have awesome contact with their fans both during the show and afterwards. Second up was Silvertide. I never really heard much of their music other than the single "Ain't Comin Home". To give you an idea of their sound, the lead singer looked like the anorexic guy from Silverchair and the lead guitarist might have easily won an Axl Rose look-a-like contest. All in all their set was pretty decent. The pranks might have upstaged them however. One of Alter Bridge's roadies rode across the stage in a mumu, size xxxxxxxL pink ladies underwear on top of a sparkly pink girl's bike from wal-mart. How, you ask, did I know it was a bike from wal-mart? Well, the tag was still attached to the front of the bike just above the little basket. After a sight like that, mayhem ensued. Scott Phillips must have hi-jacked a rubber ball factory backstage, because before we knew it, little rubber balls (some like baseballs, some colored, some with smiley faces) were flying everywhere. The lead guitarist from Submersed decided to take a shot at playing the Axl Rose wanna-be's guitar. Roadies and musicians alike were being wrapped up with Saran Wrap, confetti was bursting out from every corner, and two random guys ended up onstage singing the last song with the band. All jokes aside, it was finally time for Alter Bridge to make their long-awaited appearance. Nothing can describe the feeling when you see 3 of the 4 guys from Creed walking in stage right in front of your face. As much as I love Scott Stapp, I have to say that Miles Kennedy (Alter Bridge's lead singer) pulled of the job flawlessly. It was definitely a hard rocking concert. *************MORE UPDATES ON THIS REVIEW TO COME, STILL SOMEWHAT UNDER THE INFLUENCE OF SUCH A WONDERFUL NIGHT******************** |
