| Milady was the youngest child of Veronica DeWinter and Riley Halle, two Ebene officers who strongly supported Lord Zelazny's plan to take over Shaldani. Although she was exceptionally intelligent and skilled with various weapons, Milady was ignored by her parents as high hopes were placed on her older siblings. However, when she was thirteen, she caught the eye of Lord Zelazny as he stayed in her parent's home one evening. He sent her away from her family to receive special training from tutors and combat instructors. At the age of eighteen, she returned back home, no longer shy and awkward, but sleek and deadly, especially skilled with dark magiks. Soon after returning home, she became Zelazny's mistress. Almost immediately a bond was formed between them, although at times it's almost that of father and daughter.
