| Jake grew up in Ferris City dreaming of being a great legendary hero, and had a happy childhood playing make-believe hero with the other kids on the streets. Nevertheless, his dreams of becoming a legend never dulled, and he continued to dream past the age he should have left "such silly things behind," as his parents William and Janet would say. Inspite of his parents' comments, he kept playing "hero," his best friend -and neighbor- Ev always playing the loyal sidekick. That they got into many adventures and misadventures is an understatement. Ev eventually fell ill for unknown reasons, and everything went downhill from there. Jake visited his friend often, but his condition worsened, and one night he finally passed away. Jake watched from the door as Ev's sister Sic took care of him during his last moments. Something odd happened after that, and Sic ran away that very night. Struck with the sudden urge to protect his friend's sister, Jake packed his things and ran away soon after, following Sic's tracks a day late each time. He was sure he was about to catch up with her when he crossed into Shaldani and the attacks started. Led by a force he couldn't recognize, he came about the Phoenix house and was taken in immediately. For now Jake tries to help around and be in good moods, hoping he'll be able to return home with Sic some day soon. Jake, as adult-like as he tries to act sometimes, is still a kid, and as such, may act immature and grouchy on occassion. He's very energetic, and is in tip-top physical shape from so much adventuring in the past. He can hold his own with a sword and buckler, and won't hesitate to jump into a brawl, but he's okay with taking it easy. Perhaps because of his fantastic dreams of princesses, he seems develop a crush very easily on most girls, but overall, he's a pretty innocent kid. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||
