The largest single innovation here is our intention to create a workable programme to get performers and technicians of very high standards out of work for protracted periods back into the arena and working again. We will look at abilities and capabilities rather than track records while placing people and will continue to do that each time we have to find new cast or crew members. Because we have a rolling production set up that should eventually involve touring productions, and will have a growing and expanding television and film production unit, we anticipate that we will need a growing number of both performers and technicians for our live and recorded productions. The concentration in the early stages will be very much on utilising existing talent. As well as this, Balineum will have a number of different departments working within it, and we are very aware that we would be in a unique position in the local area to offer a number of work experience and restart opportunities in almost every department, including:
Later we would look to expand these to include all departments of the production house itself, and all theatre, television/film and audio departments. Initial consultation with local community employment groups have shown that this would be a popular and useful facility to have at their disposal and we would look to create a wide range of options in conjunction with local authority and Employment Services organisations in the area as well as schools and colleges. Our intention is to form working partnerships with existing initiatives and provide a full working environment in which to hone properly skills learned in a training environment. |
