These
will occupy swimming pool areas (hence called major and minor according
to their size, but later to be named the O'Toole* Theatre
and the Crawford* Arena respectively) and will be
fully equipped multi functional performance spaces capable of being
arranged to suit any performance, conference or exhibition purpose.
The Major pool room already boasts a stage which we will expand
upon by bringing forward the limit of the proscenium arch and adding
an apron to the front of the platform. The floor will be permanently
converted, with part of the pool to the front of the stage left
open and converted to an orchestra pit. Seating capacity was 1,400,
however, after conversion this will drop slightly to around 1,100.
There will be access points into the sub-floor area which will be
used for storage of stackable seating, which will be raised and
lowered into the subfloor space hydraulically or mechanically. The
Minor pool will be similarly adapted (without orchestra pit) estimated
seating here is 650. Seating here will be raked movable. In none
of the auditoria will seating be permanently fixed. This will allow
for completely flexible spaces. Both will be equipped with flytowers
to allow for much larger production designs. In this way we will
be maximising the scope of the arenas we are creating to lend themselves
to the widest possible array of uses. |
