Scales of the Mind
This is something which I discovered myself not long ago.
Do you ever wish you could take a step back and look at the way your life is going, and see whether it is good or bad? There is a way to measure how many good events there are currently in your life compared to the bad. Although it is not very precice, it can give you an idea of the situation, and therefore help you decide how you could improve (if you need to) or count your blessings for what you already have.
I call it looking at the 'Scales of the Mind'. Your subconscious is letting you know if there is either something wrong which you need to deal with, or your life is currently going very well and there's nothing to worry about.

This is how you do it:
Start off by meditating - simple.
Think of what's happened to you recently, good and bad.

Hold these images of you in these situations in your mind for a moment.

Now hold your hands out in front of you at about chest level, palms facing upwards.

Imagine you are holding two large spheres, one in each hand.

The one on your left is black, and the other is pure white.

The black sphere represents the problems and troubles you are currently encountering.
The white sphere represents all of the positive, uplifting events that have occured.

Close you eyes if you haven't already. Concentrate on what the spheres represent.

Slowly, you should start to feel one side becoming heavier with the amount of thoughts being put into it.
Let your arms move up or down, just as a pair of scales do.

When you feel that you have reached the point where they will not move any further, open your eyes.

Look at the difference between each hand level. The heavier one should be lower than the lighter one, indicating that there is more of it.
If your left is lower it means there are some problems occuring at the moment which you could try to solve.
If the right is lower then there is more good than bad and you don't have much to worry about.
There is also a visualizing exercise to go with this:
when you have reached the point when your hands wont move any further, look at the difference as usual. If the bad side is heavier than the good, you could try to visualize all your troubes leaving you.
Think of your problems and then watch them fall out of the black sphere and disappear. Your hand should get lighter and the good will overcome and outnumber the bad. If you practice this enough, you may see a visible change for the better in your life.
If anyone finds this method useful or helpful in any way, please e-mail me and let me know. I always apreciate positive feed-back on any of the subjects which I have discovered.
