Zell, Quistis, Selphie, and Rinoa are all cell-mates in some prison.  Their weapons have been confiscated.  No one knows what has become of Squall or Irvine.  Zell awakens from the "dream world" and Selphie asks about Sir Laguna, as she calls him.  Zell, who was in Ward's mind, doesn't know.  He says that Ward hasn't seen Laguna since the Centra adventure, and is working in a prison.  Rinoa asks Zell if the place they are in looks familiar.  It does.  Zell knows where they are!
Then, the guards come in.  They beat up on Zell for a while.  Then, one of them asks if there is a Rinoa among them.  Rinoa steps forward.  They escort her away.  Quistis is concerned, but Rinoa assures her that she will be fine.
Later, a Moomba comes and brings them some food.  The guard is mean to the poor Moomba.  Zell comes up with a plan to go and get their weapons back.  He gets the guard to come into the cell, then beats the crap out of him.  Then, Zell and the Moomba go up to the next floor and defeat the guards who are watching their weapons.
MEANWHILE...
Squall is in a movable cell.  His injury is gone.  Squall is a little wobbly.  Seifer comes in and begins interrogating him.  His question: What is SeeD?  Squall is then taken to a torture chamber, chained to the wall, and hooked up to an electro-shock machine.  Seifer continues to ask: What is SeeD?  Squall eventually passes out from the electrocution.
BACK TO THE OTHERS...
Zell returns to the cell where Quistis and Selphie are waiting.  He tosses their weapons to them, and they get ready to make a break for it.  Biggs and Wedge enter the scene.  The three easily defeat the two idiots, and begin to look for Squall.  They follow the Moombas to the 13th floor where Squall is strung up on the wall.  They free him.  Then, using the controls, Squall and Zell get the cell to move to the ground floor.  Squall, Quistis, and Selphie are on the bottom, but there is no way to escape.  They return to the top.  Zell is being chased by the Warden.  Squall comes to his rescue, and the four begin to think that there is no escape.
ENTER RINOA AND IRVINE!
Irvine tells Squall to split them up into 2 groups.  Squall's group will go to the top, and Irvine's will go to the 3rd floor.  Squall's group will get the arm to move up.  Then, they will all be able to escape.
Once Squall and crew get the arm mobile, the prison begins to sink back into the sand.  Squall is trapped on the bridge as it begins to fall.  He narrowly escapes.
Then entire group steals 2 cars and makes it out into the desert.  Then, Selphie tells them about the plans to destroy Balamb and Trabia Gardens.  She tells Squall that she wants to take a party to the Missle Base and stop the launch.  Squall agrees.  Three will go to the Missle Base, and three will go Balamb Garden.  Selphie and Co. head out to the Base.  Once there, they sneak in by disguising themselves as Galbadian soldiers.  They manage to get in, cause a blackout, push the error ratio on the missile control computer all the way up.  They are discovered and have to fight the Command Leader.  Then, they disable the Missle Control Panel, set the self-destruct mechanism.  However, the trio must fight BGH251F2 to escape the base.  After defeating the boss, they are still trapped.  Selphie begins to wonder...Did Squall send them on this mission knowing that they would fail?  She then comes to realize that Squall sent them because he trusted them to be able to accomplish their goal and save Balamb Garden.  Then, there is a huge explosion.
BACK AT BALAMB GARDEN...
There is in-fighting going on between the Garden Facilitors and the Headmaster's supporters.  Squall is asked: Cid or NORG?  He does not respond.  Squall and Co. go to every corner of the Garden trying to find Cid.  Finally, Xu appears and takes them to him.  Squall tells Cid that missiles may be heading for the Garden.  Cid has a plan...the Garden was a shelter before Cid built it...maybe there is a way to escape the missiles.  Squall and his comrades travel down to the MD level and start up an old machine.  Then, the Garden begins to move???  WHAT?
The three go back to the second floor and check out the view from the now mobile Garden.  Then, Cid sends for them.  The missles have narrowly missed the Garden!  Everyone is safe!  The next morning, Squall wakes up, bored.  He heads to the directory.  One of the Garden Faculty tells him that NORG wants to see him.  Squall goes down to the basement and is debriefed by NORG.  Squall learns that NORG means to hand over the SeeDs to Edea, the sorceress, who is also Cid's wife?!?  Squall's two partners show up, and they go into battle.  After defeating NORG, Squall decides to pay Cid a visit.  He is in the infirmary.  Cid confirms everything that NORG said.  Confused, Squall speaks with Xu at the directory.  Now, there is a ship approaching.  It is the White SeeD ship.  They want Ellone.  Squall goes and finds Ellone in the Library.  He asks her why she choose him to go back to Laguna's time.  On her way out, Ellone tells him why: "You're my only hope."
Up 'til now, the Garden has been floating along fairly aimlessly.  Now, it is about to crash into Fisherman's Horizon!  Crash it does, and Cid sends the Squall team out to apologize to the Mayor.  While Squall is there, Galbadian soldiers arrive to take Ellone.  After dispatching them, BFH251F2 shows up??  It escaped the Missle Base explosion and has made it to FH.  After destroying it, Selphie and Co. jump out!  They were trapped inside the machine the whole time.  Selphie tells Squall what happened at the Missile Base.  He tells her that the missiles did not hit the Garden.  She goes back to rest.  Squall apologizes to the Mayor again, and returns to the Garden.  Irvine catches Squall before he can get to the Garden, however.  Selphie is upset, and Irvine wants Squall to help cheer her up.  They go to the destroyed stage at the Quad.  Selphie is there, and she is not happy.  After trying to cheer her up, Squall leaves and goes to report to Cid.  Cid promotes Squall to be the leader of the SeeD.  Then, Squall, confused and tired, goes to take a nap.
Meanwhile...
Irvine, Selphie, Quistis, Zell, and Rinoa are planning a shindig for Squall.  Selphie and Irvine assign everyone a part.  All but Rinoa are given instruments to play and music to rehearse.  Rinoa's job is to get Squall to the stage at the Mayor's house and to keep him there.  This goes off smoothly, and Rinoa and Squall get a chance to talk.  Rinoa tells him that the rest of the crew wants him to be a little more trusting of them, and to come to them if he needs help.  Squall agrees to this just to get out of the situation.  Rinoa gets angry and runs off.  The next morning, Squall goes back to the bridge and gives the destination: Balamb.
Galbadia Garden is also mobile, and is hanging around the beach near Balamb.  Squall and his team exist the Garden on the land, and go into the town.  However, they are halted at the entrance.  The Galbadians are searching for Ellone.  Squall uses this to get the soldiers to allow him and his group into town.  They drop in at Zell's house for a few minutes, asking about the Captain. Ma Dincht mentions a girl that matches Fujin to a tee.  Squall and Co. go to the Balamb Hotel, but the Captain is out.  Looks like they'll have to track him down.  First they go and talk to a soldier at the dock.  He says that the Captain caught some fish and went to cook them.  As Squall and party approach the entrance of the town, they notice smoke billowing forth from Ma Dincht's home.  Looks like the Captain came by and borrowed her kitchen.  Squall and the gang then head toward the Train Station.  Several soldiers are sick from eating the fish.  But the Captain is nowhere to be found.  Near the verge of dispair, the trio goes back to the dock.  A dog catches the Captain's scent, and leads Squall back to the Train Station.  The Captain, Rajin, was hiding out in the train!  The crew chases him back to the Hotel.  Rajin fights them after Fujin kicks his butt outta the Hotel.  Then, after the crew defeats him, Rajin runs into the Hotel.  Squall and Co. follow, and a battle ensues between them and Rajin and Fujin.  Fujin demands to know Ellone's whereabouts.  Finally, the two are defeated, and make a run for it.  Squall decides to head back to the Garden and try to sort this whole mess out.  Once at the bridge, Selphie appears.  She asks Squall if it would be at all possible to check up on Trabia Garden.  He agrees, and they head north toward Trabia.
Once there, it is evident that the missiles hit Trabia Garden dead on.  Selphie runs ahead of the party.  She is very worried about all of her friends.  Squall and the rest follow her into the Garden, and find her talking to a friend in front of a ruined fountain.  Selphie tells them that she will meet them at the basketball court.  The group goes there, and speculations begin.
Quistis wonders what this will all do to them, what will the outcome be?  Zell wonders what the sorceress was up to before all of this.  Irvine is trying to think of a way to cheer Selphie up.  Rinoa is wondering whether or not they will all survive this.  Selphie shows up, and asks to be among those who attack the sorceress.  Then, Rinoa comes forward.  She asks if the violence is necessary.  Is there a way to avoid it?  She is scared that someone will die, someone she loves will be gone.  Forever.  Then, Irvine comes in.  He knows exactly how Rinoa feels.  He understands her fears.  But, he is going to fight.  Irvine's revelations do much to show the group who they really are, who they are really fighting, and why....
