Seifer Almasy is among the children who were raised at the Matron's orphanage.  Of an age with Quistis, Seifer is condescending and patronizing to his fellow students at Balamb Garden.  He was never inducted into SeeD.  Seifer has a rivialry with Squall.  Both wield Gunblades.
Seifer, ironically enough, is the instrument that allowed Rinoa and Squall to meet.  Seifer had a brief relationship with Rinoa, and helped her to get in contact with Headmaster Cid.  Of course, all hope for a future between Seifer and Rinoa went out the window the first time she laid eyes on Squall.
Seifer and his two friends, Rajin and Fujin, make up the Balamb Garden Discipline Committee.  For more information, check the Words of Wisdom section at the Garden Proper.
The rest of Seifer's story can be found in the Story-line section of the Library.

Fujin is a student at Balamb Garden.  Her two closest friends are Rajin, her "partner in crime," and Seifer.  She is intensely loyal to both, even though she will give Rajin the occasional kick.  She also speaks her mind.  Also, Fujin will not follow someone who is not "worth it" or who is being manipulated.
She speaks mostly in one word shouts that only Rajin and Seifer seem to understand.
Fujin is also a member of the Balamb Garden Disciplinary Committee.

Rajin is also a student at Balamb Garden.  He is the "brawn"(whereas Fujin and Seifer are the "brains")of the Balamb Garden Disciplinary Committee.  Rajin follows Fujin, who is usually going the same direction as Seifer.  Early on, Rajin evokes Fujin's ire by being nice to Squall and Co.  Rajin ends ALL of his sentences with the words "ya know."  He also seems to have an absolute passion for fishing!

The Sorceress Edea Kramer, also known as Matron.  She is a central figure in the game.  Edea recieved the "sorceress power" as a young child.  Also, she recieved an unknown dying sorceress's powers of her own will as an adult.
She is married to Cid Kramer, the Headmaster of Balamb Garden.  She ran an orphanage on one of the southern isles of the Centra archepelago.  The orphanage doubled as her home.  It is currently in shambles.  It is not known if she plans to restore it.
SeeD and Garden were originally Edea's idea.  It is rumored that she began them for two reasons:
          1.  To educate, house, and give careers to the growing number of orphans who were beginning to reach adolesence.
         2.  To train soldiers to fight and kill the sorceress, should another Adel ever arise.
The rest of Edea's story can be found in the Story-line section of the Library.

Cid Kramer is the Headmaster of Balamb Garden.  He joined forces wtih NORG of the Shumi Tribe to raise the funds necessary to make his wife Edea's dreams of Garden and SeeD come to fruition.
Cid is a kindly man, very much a father-figure to the students of Balamb Garden.  He is often forced to make hard decisions between what is best for SeeD and Garden, and what is easiest for himself.  Cid always chooses what is best for SeeD, even when the cost is high to himself.  Very Ulititarian.

Laguna Loire was a soldier in the Galbadian army during the Sorceress War.  He and his two friends, Ward and Kiros, remained close even after the War was over.
Laguna took up residence in a small town called Winhill.  He was found, severely injured, and nursed back to health by Raine.  Laguna became an "uncle" to a young orphaned girl named Ellone. When she was taken by Esthar soldiers, Laguna traveled to the ends of the Earth to get her back.  For a while, Laguna seemed to have disappeared...
The rest of Laguna's story can be found in the Story-line section of the Library.

Kiros is a smooth-talking, easy-going, joking friend of Laguna's.  It was on a dare from Kiros that Laguna approached and actually spoke to the object of his long-time affection, Julia.  Kiros comes to Winhill to visit Laguna, and eventually helps him on his quest to find Ellone.  When Laguna disappears, Kiros seems to vanish right along with him...
The rest of Kiros's story can be found in the Story-line section of the Library.

Ward is a fairly quiet, but likable member of Laguna and Co.  He follows Laguna wherever he goes.  After an incident at Centra, Ward loses the ability to speak.  He works in the D-District Prison for as a janitor for a while.  He later re-joined Kiros and Laguna on their quest to find Ellone.  He also disappeared with them...
The rest of Ward's story can be found in the Story-line section of the Library.
