Shades of Gray
I'd always considered myself a fairly opinionated person. As usual, I was wrong. I just left a debate on the death penalty in which I wound up defending the Nazis. Go figure. Now, don't me wrong, I am NOT a Nazi, and I do NOT believe in mass genocide. However I do believe that people should be held to their standards and not deemed evil simply because our society would like to say they were wrong. This was linked to the death penalty by a comment made by a teacher  citing states with the death penalty as comparable to the "evil Nazis."
I place a large difference in wrong and evil. Wrong is solely my opinion and the beliefs of my society. . Evil is based off of the intentions and personal convictions of the each individual. It's a long story that I won't really go into on here, because that is not this page is about.

I am learning that in my life, there are lots of gray areas, areas I feel as if I am not educated enough to have an opinion, or areas I'm too indecisive about. The death penalty is an example of one of these areas. I think that this is wrong. How can I affect the world around me if I have no clue where I stand on major controversial issues?
BZZZTTT! Wrong! Where would our world be if everyone stayed in their gray area? The United States exists because of very opinionated people. Slavery was abolished by opinionated people. Every war fought, every civilization started, and every revolutionary movement has been because of one or more opinionated people. I am coming to learn that opinions are dangerous and powerful things.

I gotta get me some of those.
I have also noticed that I am not alone in my lovely gray areas. There are ALOT of people out there that have just never decided which side of the line they are on. It's safe to say you don't have an opinion on a subject. It keeps you from controversy, debate, and disagreements. I'd always thought that it was the best way to go. It kept you happy and the people around comfortable with you. It was just better for the world
