Rising from Flames
Smothered by the heat that
trapped my soul,
I waited to be consumed by the flames
The fire was to be my release.
At last I rose from the ashes
My soul reborn and spirit too
Where once had been a timid sparrow
Now stood a bird of flaming plummage.
I will soar with the flames from which I am reborn.
