Between 1861 and 1865, America was torn in two as the North fought the South in the Civil War. Never was the question, "What is America?" so important. For four years, our country's unity was threatened.
For the students of Scott Joplin School, learning about the Civil War is especially important because with the ending of the Civil War, slavery also ended! That is a very important part of African American history.
Your final project for our unit of study on The Civil War will be a group project. You will have to create a visual aid that represents what your group decides was the most important part of the Civil War. Your visual aid will have to contain at least one primary source. This assignment will be completed after we have studied the war and you have a thorough knowledge of the different events. I will give you the directions and the rubric, but below are some websites that will give you more information about the Civil War, and where you can find some primay sources. Remember, we will score 80% or above on all assessments!
There are lots of games on the internet that you can play to help you learn about the Civil War!
