I'm Sinbad the Senegal parrot. I am a wild-caught parrot who escaped in the airport several years ago. Luckily, someone found me, and I lived with him happily for almost 10 years. When my former owner was no longer able to keep me, he surrendered me to Mickaboo Cockatiel Rescue. Mickaboo called Bud and Danni and told them my story. I was adopted immediately. Bud and Danni say that I'm home forever now.
I'm learning to get along with my new flock members, Elmo the cockatiel and Pinot the senegal. Frankly, they're both spoiled rotten, but maybe I'll get to be that way too. I don't really have the confidence that Pinot does - I'm much more skittish, but with time...who knows?
I feel more and more comfortable in my new home everyday! After only a week, I allow both Bud and Danni to scritch my head, and if I'm really in the mood, they can hold me upside-down in the palm of their hands. I go to the vet shortly for a well-bird check up and DNA sexing. Danni thinks I'm a girl, but Bud is skeptical...he thinks he hears me talking when I'm in the bird room. Of course I don't talk in front of them...got to keep them guessing!
Update: My lab results from the vet were just great. I'm very comfortable and at home these days. I've learned some of the whistles from the "different bird every hour" clock. I love many of the new foods I'm trying, especially dark leafy greens and Beak Appetit. I've also been having a ball destroying my new toys. I love to shred wood and paper, and it's really fun to ring my bell first thing in the morning. Don't tell Bud and Danni, though, because they've been blaming Pinot for all the morning bell ringing. It's so easy to get her in trouble!
Update: 1/22/2002 - Danni and Bud got my DNA results, and I'm officially a girl bird. Things are still going great - I'm an absolute love (of course). Although I'm super sweet to people, I officially hate both of my flockmates Pinto and Elmo. It doesn't much matter, though, since we all have our separate cages. Oh...and fingers crossed I'll be featured in a popular parrot magazine in an upcoming issue. Don't want to jinx it, so no details for now...check back though! |
