On 26th October 2002 I took part in the Inter-Varsity Queer Collective float for the Perth Gay and Lesbian Pride Parade. The theme of the float was Noah's Gay Ark and as the oldest member of the group I played Noah, accompanied by probably the youngest member of the group, John, who played the character of 'Noah's Bitch' - words that were written on his bare back. As John is very interested in the Palestine issue he asked to have the words 'Free Palestine' written on his bare chest. John was quite stunning and one of the real eyecatchers of the parade and there were many photographs taken of him.

 

Most of the rest of the group all dressed up as animals, two by two and marched along behind the ark float. A few 'Ark Staff' carried the banner right at the front behind which Noah and his bitch walked followed by the float. Our float driver dressed up as a Protestant clergyperson.
