| The Story Paul's account |
| It was a little after midnite, just after MADTV was over. The sleep timer on the TV had just shut it off. I turned over, so I was facing away from Julie. I was lying there trying to go to sleep when I heard a mans voice whisper "Paul". The voice came from the hallway door. Naturally I thought it was Julie, so I turned over to see what she wanted, but she was asleep. I turned back over and said in my head - Leave me alone I'm trying to sleep. I fell asleep only to wake up to Julie calling my name and nudging me in the side. She didn't say what was wrong. She said that she just wanted me to hold her, so I did. I again woke up when I felt Julie shaking and in turn woke her up thinking she was having a bad dream. Again she didnt tell me what was wrong. So I held her again as I tried to fall asleep. Her head was resting on my chest. I couldn't fall asleep. Again she began to whisper my name and her legs were kicking. I woke her up again. This time she sat up and said she wasn't going to sleep again. At this point it was almost 5 in the morning. I asked what was wrong and she said "Don't laugh at me when I tell you". She told me she thought something was in the room. My heart jumped, thinking that earlier whisper was just my imagination. Me, being the strange person that I am asked her if she wanted me to get rid of it. I had listen to things like this on Coast To Coast AM. So I asked and evil energies and negative thought forms to exit the room. After, to make her feel better I left the light in the bathroom on and turned the TV on for the remainder of the night. Nothing happened after that. I just figured she'd have a story to tell people now. When I got home, just for fun, I thought I'd try to look up something on the internet to see if anything had happened at the Ancestor's Inn at the Bassett House in the past. Much to my surprise I did. |

| The Story Julie's account |
| After falling asleep and being woken up by the cell phone ringing, I was finally able to go back to sleep at about 1:30AM. Usually when I sleep, I sleep on my side, but that night for some reason I was on my back. The room was cold and each side of the bed had heat controls for the blanket. One of course would use it because I like being cold and bundling up to go to sleep. I was dreaming about my friends when my mind went blank. The focus of my thoughts and my body was the room we were in, as real as it was. All of a sudden I felt as if the bed seperated from beneath me and my body somewhat was raised. I was panicing and scared out of disbelief. I was kicking my feet and trying to move my hands and arms, but they were being held down. I was screaming for my boyfriendlying next to me but nothing would come out, as though my mouth was covered. After about a minute or 2 it stopped. I tried to calm down, telling myself it was all a dream. After about 5 minutes I was able to lie down again. Again I decided to fall asleep on my back. As I closed my eyes a whisper of a man's voise said, "Here we go again." Right after that was said the same thing happened, only with a srtonger force. Theis time when it ended I knew it wasn't a dream, but id it was it definitely scared me. I turned and said to Paul, "Hold me I'm scared." He didn't know what was gong on but said okay. He was holding me and I was holding him. This time I was lying on my side. Paul fell asleep shortly after and was snoring. As soon as he fell asllep I was grabbed on each side of my hips and pulled to the edge of the bed. Paul felt my body shaking, I woke him up. He tried everything to wake me up. I was not going back to sleep after this! |
| We stayed at the Ancestor's Inn at the Bassett House a year earlier in George and Regina's Room. We liked it very much an decided to go back again and stay in a different room - Valentines Room. The following are our stories of what took place. |
