My Defeat Blinding blissful ignorance My own stupidity I didn't see it coming It snuck right up on me I should have seen it long ago But something blinded me A curtain covering my eyes, Simply couldn't see It took me wholly unawares With no time to prepare So hard and fast was its attack I fell right then and there I never even saw the beast That finally got me I am no more, my fight is lost I looked but did not see Never lose sight of the bigger picture, you may have been better, stronger, faster, or smarter than all your obstacles so far, but you never know what lurks around the corner. Do not dwell in self-admiration, or in self-pity. Live for the present and the now, not the has been or may be. But most importantly, live.
