Heaven On Earth

I wake up and roll over
And see you lying there
A peaceful smile on your face
Dreaming without a care

After staying for a while
Watching as you sleep
I gently push my covers back
And climb up to my feet

I walk a short way down the hall
Peering in a door
I see an angel snuggled up
The child I adore

I walk on further, then sit down
And watch the world awake
Sunlight glistens on the ice
A bird the silence breaks

Crispness in the morning air
The warmth shared by the sun
The sounds of people waking up
Slowly, one by one

I smile, thinking to myself
As I sit here alone
That I have found heaven on earth
My family and our home
