Who writes these weather forecasts? Saturday I saw a forecast fro Sunday. Dry (well they got that almost right) and sunny. There was no mention of strong winds. The trees were bending double as we made our way to Hasguards Cross. Eight members assembled; thankfully dive marshal, Jeff, had the guts to say we'd give it a go. WE launched from Gelliswick. The swell outside of the piers was big, swamping the boat as we tried to ride it. We decided to dive the Beehar. Martin and I dropped in first. It was black along the bottom, and even after my eyes had got accustomed, I needed Martin's torch beam to see anything. We swam around fro 30 minutes and then surfaced. The other buddy teams didn't last that long. The consensus was that viz was crap. Our second dive on the Loch Shiel wasn't much better. Water movement meant that the sediment was stirred. You could just about see your hand in front of your face. Never mind, there's no such thing as a bad dive and at least we managed to get wet, me more than most after doing the outbound journey with my suit undone; thank you to those who finally told me!!
Got home just after seven; Martin drove and he doesn't hang about. I enjoyed a couple of beers and made myself some tea, chicken and fries.
Monday and its rained all day. The PO was reasonably busy but I'm glad I bought a big paper, it gave me something to read. Tonight it's dive night and I may try a swim to see if I can get some movement in my knee.
