Entry for July 26, 2007

Another wet day.  I took my umbrella with me this morning and boy was I glad that I did.  It was raining - not hard, but enough to wet you.  The wind was strong enough to make holding a brolly hard work, but I was determined not to get too wet.  By the time I got to the road bridge it had almost stopped so I took the brolly down and enjoyed the surroundings.  The litter is building up once again; kids, do they not know or don't they care!!  I saw Rod and Graham in the distance, they were waiting for me to catch up so much to Suki's disgust this is what we did.  She was unhappy and held back, so much so that I put a lead on her.  She sulked, but trotted along.  Rod told me about Gwyneth Robbins passing away.  She was 96 Wow!!  By the time we'd gone through the current topics we were at LL/J and the rain had started again but this time, much harder.  I put my brolly up.  The two boys had only hats and coats and got soaked.  By the time we reached home, it was literally hammering down; I was reasonably dry, Suki was soaked.  Sandra was up.  I towelled the little dog down.  Her eyes said it all "When for God's sake is it going to stop raining? "  Breakfast was 2 eggs and smoked salmon +two cups of coffee.  I had to work all day on my own, so I took my computer and camera.  I played about with creating and naming files and was reasonably successful.  Sandra came in about 12-00.  She'd been to the warehouse for cards, and she brought some food including a Melton mowbray pork pie.  I ate a half; it was delicious.  The computer work lasted into the afternoon.  Outside the rain was falling really heavily.  It had been raining now for some 6 hours.  There's bound to be floods after this.  People kept coming in and telling me about a flood on the railway tracks.  Will the culvert need attention before the station opens?

There hasn't been many customers today, not surprising considering the conditions but I've enjoyed myself and sold a lot of currency in the bargain.  Tonight I logged on to discover that Chris has had my info for the Observer, and Peter has posted my info on the club site.  So that only leaves James to reply re my column for the Observer.
