A fine example of how a good start to a day can go down hill rapidly. Our morning walk started around 06-30am. The weather was fine, with a rising sun and little wind. We met up with colleagues Rod and his two spaniels, and Graham with his alsatian. In the space of half a mile, we managed to put the world to rights, discuss the weekends football, and aquaint ourselves with local gossip (non). A good breakfast, two sausages and two eggs then off to work. And that's when it started to go wrong. Vehicle licences! I told how the powers that be printed the reminders before the budget; well, you try explaing this to angyr customers. I started off being apologetic but after a while, I decided it wasn't my fault, so why should I apologise. So I wrote a note and stuck it to the P. O. screen, explaining the situation, and asking customers not to shoot the messenger. It helped... a bit. I was glad when lunch time came along. Home, and liver with caulie.
After lunch I went back to the P.O. where I was greeted with the news that they were £40 short!!! Of course, Vicky had left it too late to go back through her figures. I was glad of Lynda's company for the afternoon. It was busy and we had £40 to find. It took us all afternoon, but we found it, in a number of mistakes. The highlight of my day was managing to submit my P35 tax return on line. I have come on in leaps and bounds with this computer malarky. Tonight I'm going for a swim, and then a few pints with friends from the diving club.
