Entry for April 25, 2007
The weather has turned... for the worst. All of a sudden, we have rain and wind and it's got colder. I was going to go fishing first thing this morning, but the thought of having to walk the dog and then to... well you know. So I started to read my library book, about the man who was walking from Plymouth to Edinburgh. It's fascinating. Almost makes me wish that I'm going to do some thing stupid. Anyway, I got up at 06-30am. Suki, very reluctantly, got up as well. We went for a walk. It was cold, and windy, but dry. We caught up with Rod and Graham. Suki wasn't keen, but it gave me an opportunity to thank Rod for the tomato plants he dropped off at the house for Sandra. Later, Sandra and I went shopping. Tescos seems to be our treat of the week. Sad, isn't it!! Anyway, we bought a duck; for tea. It was reduced; £3.65 instead of £7.65 , so we had a bargain. After breakfast, I decided to go fishing. I didn't have any maggots, so I decided to open a tin of luncheon meat. Down on the patch, I met up with Len and Graham. They were fishing with Luncheon meat and corn. I fished on peg 14. Graham was on peg 15, and Len was on 17. I fished a float, and then I tried freeline. I had a couple of takes, before switching back to the float. Not long after, I caught a nice mirror carp, and lost a couple of big fish. Graham had a couple of small carp and Len had two bream. I went home about 2-30pm. After lunch, and a little nap, I went to the Post Office. We managed to balance early, tidyied up, and then locked up. Later, I went to the Cross with Sandra and we had a couple of pints. We met up with Gordon and his wife, and he told me tales of how diving was in the good old days; yawn yawn!! The duck was lovely. We had it with some fried rice left over from last saturday, and a couple of glasses of Australian white wine; its much better than going out; HONEST!!!
