Entry for April 15, 2007
Missed another couple of days, so here's the catch up in brief. Friday the 13th passed without incident which is surprising considering my recent run of fortune or lack of. In fact it wasn't a bad day at all. Sandra read my final folders and couldn't find any obvious spelling errors, though she did comment on the lack of commas. I have however received several slaps on the wrist for excessive use of the comma and semi-colon, so now use both sparingly. I will have to wait and see how my final folders are received. In the Post Office, the local joiner who had been promising to come and do some little jobs since Christmas, finally turned up. He started work on transforming our old fashioned counter. In the process, he managed to set off the alarm system, and it was several minutes before I managed to turn the noise off. The lady from Humberstones estate agents turned up on time. She spent time looking around and then left with my most recent set of accounts. She freely admitted that the market was slow but promised to get back to me with a realistic price. I think I'm ready to get out. I don't seem to have the necessary enthusiasm any more, so I hope she can help. I got to the shop early on Saturday morning so that Albert, the joiner, could get a good start. Sod's law took over, and I had the busiest Saturday that I'd had for a long time. Both Pubs required services, Tiz paid in his wad of change, Pay to view paid in and their slip was added up wrong, I did fishing licences, Premium Bonds, and anything that takes lots of time. By the time I looked up it was 12-00pm and the Post Man was knocking the door. By 12-30, Albert still had lots of work to finish. I checked the safe, and the cash, and then took change orders over to the Pubs, where I was rewarded with two lovely cold pints of Stella - see, there is a God! Albert finished around 2-30pm. I tidied up and set the counters for Monday then went home. It was almost 3-30pm. I ate a quick lunch then rushed to the bookies to back horses in the Grand National. We managed to back three out of the first four past the winning post, so I have money to come back. We watched Man Utd win, drank several beers, and went to bed early. I woke at 06-30am and realised that I was in no fit condition to go diving, so after a longish walk with the dog, and a decent breakfast I went fishing. Later in the afternoon, I listened to the radio as Blackburn Rovers lost 2-1 to Chelsea. It's been really good weather over the past few days and I've managed to enjoy some decent walks, including one this morning dressed in only shorts and tee shirt. Lets hope it will continue.
