Mr.
Hi, I'm Phil, a Postmaster in South Wales. When I'm not working I enjoy walking, fishing and scuba diving.
Entry for April 9, 2007

Another two days; and I did promise!  Well here goes.  Yesterday was a purple day!  The first day of the new diving season.  Pual Gray came around at 5-30am and took the jeep and the boat.  There was traces of oil on the ground.  I washed these down with Fairy Liquid in a vain attempt to clear the mess but in the dark and in  a rush to get away... well, you know how it is.  Anyway, the drive down to West Wales was fabulous.  The sun came up as an orange ball and then changed to a shining ball,  It was quiet; just me in the car and the road and the countryside with plenty to see; new lambs, birds, familiar landmarks, pubs, churches, petrol stops, puull ins; an before I knew it we were in Haverford West, and then Hasguard's Cross.  I don't know wcich I like the most, the drive down or the diving.  Anyway, West Wales Divers was the same place.  We enjoyed a bacon sandwich whilst we waited for the team to turn up; it was so; well; familiar, so, well, you don't realise how much you really miss the scene, and then thye were there, Jeff, Martin, Phil the blade, Crab Hook and Lyn.  Our team, + Peter.  We launched fro m Broadhaven, and were soon gliding across the bay towards Mare's Rock.  The first dive was good.  I hit the water.  It was cold, but I expected that.  Phil and I followed the anchor rope down to ten metres and made our way along the rock.  There was plenty to see in good visibility and we were down for fourty five minutes getting down to twenty one metres.  Our second dive was on the hen and chicks, and we gathered scallops and a crab on another enjoyable dive.  OK!  the temperature was only ten degrees, but in my dry suit with plenty of layers, only my hands felt the cold.  I got home around 7-30pm.  It had been a perfect day.

I got up at 7-00am and walked with Suki across the fields to Pontyclun.  The river was dirty, cloudy as though something had been introduced.  Afterall, it hasn't rained!  Funny, but I'm  sure this has happened before on a bank holiday!  It didn't stop the fish though, and I saw several, including a shoal by the bridge at Ynysddu, and another, by the bridge at Pontyclun station.  We got home at 8-30 and enjoyed a lesuirely breafast.  It's nice to be enjoying another Bank holiday.   I was stiff and sore from yesterday's diving, but we took Suki to Newton and walked along the top of the reef.  The weater was fine and sunny, but the wind was keen.  On our way back we bought wine, and enjoyed a glass or three with lunch of crab and scallops.  Later that afternoon, we alked in the fields by Rhiwseason.
