Entry for April 6, 2007
Bank holiday, Good Friday, and am I ready for it. We got up at 06-15am and walked across the fields to Pontyclun then down to the railway station. I was going to walk back along the Ely to Talbot Green but decided to walk through to Miskin instead. It was such a lovely morning that we walked down to the cricket field and then back through the fields. The chestnut trees are just coming into leaf and there are beds of primrose; it's lovely. We saw lots of rabbits on the hill and sheep with lambs. The walk took around two hours. By the time we got back to the house, Suki was rather dirty and a shower was called for, and afterwards I showered Mitzi. So we now have two clean dogs; well, for a short while at least. After breakfast I went fishing. I got a pint of maggots from Bobs and haeded for the patch. The water was lovely and calm. There were several other people fishing, Graham and Len were 'potching'. I fished at the top end, and after a bit of experimentation, caught lots of nice size roach by fishing two metres under a float with two maggots on a twenties hook, and spraying a few maggots every cast. It was pleasant. Will came along around 11-00am. I was surprised to hear that he'd been seriously ill; prostrate cancer. He'd had prolonged medical treatment and the condition had cleared, with little side effects. The moral is 'live for today'. I ran out of maggots around 3-00pm, which was convenient because by this time I was feeling rather hungry. Wheb I got home, sandra had cut the front lawn and was about to start on the back. I made myself a jacket potato and had this with a beetroot and two slices of cold ham. I spent th erest of the afternoon dozing in front of the telly. Later after a short walk with Suki, we enjoyed a nice fresh salmon salad. I must disipline myself to finish off my college work on Monday then it's ready for handing in.
