Start as you mean to go on, so lets see if I can keep it up. I'll try to write a little journal every day through 2008 - my 60th year.
First of all, my hopes for 2008. I will telephone the lady from Humberstones and put my business on the market. I haven't totally lost interest in the Post Office but I do find it awfully difficult to motivate myself and I seem to have lost direction. Funnily enough, the business is still making money though this year I intend stripping the Southgate rents out. I also hope to complete my studies with some degree of success. I feel I'll have a better opportunity with 'The American Story' this term. I've made a good start by doing some pre -reading, made some notes and copied some stuff off the net. I feel fairly confident with Writing Non Fiction and if I put enough effort in I should pass the English module, so that only leaves the American Short Story module to really concentrate on.
Also I intend raising my fitness levels so as to be able to take full advantage of the Cocos trip in October. This will probably mean re-joining the Gym and a little bit of sensible dieting. The new puppy should mean I'll be doing a lot more walking.
Holidays this year maybe difficult. Firstly we have the puppy, but I have to get used to the idea of only having one staff member so I'll need to hire reliefs or engage somebody on a permanent basis.
Back to normal tomorrow. It seems ages since I did a proper week's work. Today I finished my holidays in style. I started with a longish walk down through Miskin, around the cricket field and back. I was out about 2 hours which isn't bad considering how young the puppy is. She was quite good on the lead, and not at all tired when she got back home. After breakfast I went fishing. Bait was a small tin of luncheon meat and I managed to bag a decent common carp. Got home at 2-00pm. I spent the rest of the afternoon snoozing. Television over the holiday period has been ok I suppose though it hasn't been possible to sit there for a whole afternoon and watch interesting stuff. There's been a lot of old stuff on, stuff I've seen before. Tonight I decided to check out my e-mails and start my blog for 2008 before going to bed early. See you tomorrow.
