I was born in Zambia in
the south central part of Africa. I received my bachelor's degree in Physics from University of Zambia
in 1982. After graduating from the University of Zambia, I became a Lecturer in Physics at
the then Zambia Institute of Technology, the now Copperbelt
University. I came to the United States in August, 1987 to study physics at
Marquette University in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. I obtained my master of science degree
in Physics from Marquette University in
1989. I moved to Chicago, Illinois to purse my doctorate degree in physics and obtained my
Ph.D. in Physics from Illinois
Institute of Technology in 1994. The research for my Ph.D. was in the optics of
biological tissues. I stayed on as an instructor at IIT from 1994 till 1996. I moved
to Florence, South Carolina in 1997 and joined the faculty in Natural Science
department at FDTC as Physics Instructor in 1997. Since
joining the faculty at FDTC I have participated in the development and enhancement of our
Physics laboratory. I am married to Katy and have two wonderful daughters.
I have been involved in several innovative ventures of improving the teaching of physics.
The above helps define "where I'm coming from" in terms
of what I'll help you learn if you take the courses that I teach: I am committed to
helping you discover and exploit the potential that science and technology has to
offer.
