Phil was born on the 24th of July 1959 in Huerth, Germany. When he was 6 years old, he already knew, that he wanted to become a singer. His older brother was playing in a band called "Florian Geyer" and that was the reason, why he learned to play guitar. With 14 he had his first band , with 17 he had his first gig in Cologne with his second Band "Fairwind". One year later he joined his brother's band as backgroundvocalist and later as guitarist as well. With them he had his first big success, playing in front of 5000 people at the Cologne Cathedral. When the drummer left the group, they changed their name into "Hurrican" and the music changed into a more Stones influenced style. They became local heroes and a single called "Late night movie" was released. They recorded a few songs for an Album, but before it was finished, the Band split. Ten years later, the songs were available as Bonustracks on the CD Rerelease of the Florian Geyer LP "Beggars Pride". 1984 the Band "Phil & the Flash" started and soon became the "Talk of the Town". They supported Frankie Miller at the legendary Luxor in Cologne. With Producer Andreas Haentjes, Phil made his first Solorecordings and things went more professional. A video was made and with new Band members , the Single "Let's pretend we're lovers" was released. "Phil & the love" toured all over Germany, the record climbed the Dutch Top 40 and the group had TV and Radioshows . But Phil left the Band for musically reasons. His new mentor, TV and Musicproducer Jacky Drechsler, brought him to Munich. In the famous Paradise Studios he recorded the Single "Save the last dance for me", a Coverversion of the old Drifters song. But without any promocion, the Single flopped and tired of living a Jet-Set Life without making music, Phil returned to Cologne. With his old friend Sigi Siegrist he founded the "International Music Factory". In their little studio, Phil learned to play instruments as Keyboards, Bass and Drums, as well as the Art of producing and arranging. He recorded a lot of new material, the most as a one man band. Together with female singer Rosario Leon he released the single "Doitallnite" as "Phil & Lito" and another title, "Love-Song" was released on the "Music on the rocks Vol.1" compilation. He also went on stage again with Bands like "Phil's Harmony Band", "The Heat" and the reunited "Phil & The Flash". Then Phil decided to go solo again and the Maxi-CD "Everyday" was released . On a TV show he met the G.I.s Grady D. Holden and Sonny Terry. He wrote a song for Sonny and it was his first release as a producer on "Music on the rocks Vol.2", which also contained another Phil original, "B.mine". Later, Phil was invited to perform on a Black Music Festival, but he never did. The Festival Organisation thought that he was a black guy, just like Sonny and Grady . When the two G.I.s went back to the States, they presented some of Phil's recordings to Melchez Records in Nashville, Tennessee. Half a year later, Phil went to "Music City" to sign a contract with Dino Bradley, a well known guitarist, who had Gold and Platinum awards for his work with Hank Williams jr. and others. Back in Germany, Phil became part of Inntonations music and together they produced the "Cologne Classix Vol.1" compilation, which contained two new songs of him, "(Please don't) Drive me mad" and "Secret Love". Then he felt, that it was time to get a new Band together. "Phil & The New Experience" did exactly one Live show, because Phil moved with his family to the island of Mallorca/Spain. There he met Producer and Singer/Songwriter Willi Meyer. With him he did a few recordings and Shows. Willi helped him a lot. Amongst other things, to meet other Artists living on the island. So he met Frank Diez (Peter Maffay Band) and worked with Costa Cordalis. After a short period with a spanish group called "Angel & Los Angelitos", he found his actual Band "We 'r' comin!" and started playing live again. Soon they'll start recording as well and Phil is still composing new material in his little studio. |
