A Day To Remember

The year was nineteen sixty nine.
It was the twenty seventh day of May.
It was Memorial Day, as a matter of fact,
On the day that you were taken away.

That day had started like so many others,
But that was not to last for long.
We packed our gear, threw on our rucks
And prayed that nothing would go wrong.

By days end you'd been taken away,
As a result of things gone awry.
Twenty eight years have passed since then
And we still can't understand why.

The year is nineteen ninety seven now.
It is the twenty seventh day of May.
We wanted to spend some time with you,
So we've come to "The Wall" on this day.
