ACHIEVEMENTS IN THE RING In the ring, the Shih Tzu has consistently placed in the group and several outstanding representatives of the brief have been awarded BEST IN SHOW. Two dogs have accomplished the greatest dream of every exhibitor by bagging the much coveted DOG OF THE YEAR award. PHIL GRAND CH ACHILLES MITZI OF SONORA earned the award in 1993, two years after, PHIL GRAND & CAN CH SYMARUN'S ULTIMATE FANTASY repeated the feat. In January 1999, a very young dog PHIL GRAND CH YAKI CHIN'S GOD OF LOVE, made history by becoming the first Philippine born Shih Tzu to win an all breeds BEST IN SHOW. He also was the #1 Shih Tzu that year and #1 Philippine Bred DOG OF THE YEAR.
Ch Yaki Chin's God of Love with breeder/owner, Rudyard Chua-Sing (right) SHIH TZUS IN OTHER COUNTRIES The locally born Shih Tzus who have attained their championships in foreign countries are: Thailand Champion Chi Lin Chantal of Dayspring (bred by Lucianne Cham & Editha Urrea), Thailand Champion Sunnyside Johnsuree Uppity (bred by Maribel Sy), American Champion Achilles Crown Jewel (bred by Lucianne Cham & Glenn Friedlander) and Singapore Champion Dragonlord Rapscallion (bred by Tyronne Cruz). PAST PRESIDENTS We would like to acknowledge the past presidents of the PSTC who steered the Club to successfully attain it's vision of promoting the betterment of the breed in the Philippines. They are: Isabel Topacio, Sylvia Reynoso-Gala, Antonio Galvez, Dr Antonio Cruz Sison, Theresita Sonora-Santos, and Lucianne Cham-Friedlander. For the past 7 years up to the present, it's able and untiring President, Johnson Ong heads the Club. Under Johnson's guidance and leadership the breed has continued to improve in quality and popularity.
