Well what can I say about Alice on the Underground apart from that it is totally brilliant.

Phil Reed, who was my main reason for going, was sensational.  When it was listed as he was playing the guitar I thought that I wouldnt see him that much but he did so much more in the show than that.

As well as playing the guitar Phil plays the roles of Rex, Father William, a punter in a brothel and a Christian trying to convert Alice to The Jesus Line and while they are only cameos they are very varied.

I wouldnt be able to pick out any of them as they were all so good, as Father William he was so moving and sang a really beautiful song and I loved it when he was abusing the commuters on the tube.

Rex was an older character, who lived next door to Alice and her family, with his wife Queenie.  Rex is obsessed with his car and neither him or Queenie get on with their neighbours at the start of the show but looking for the missing Alice unites them.

As a Christian in The Jesus Line, Phil has to dance and he did this really well, its such a funny song and one that did bring a massive grin to my face.

Finally Phil was a punter in a brothel fighting with someone over Alice, he did come across as very sleazy and it was a departure to anything else he did in the show.

Of course Phil was also the voice of the White Rabbit and he rapped something that Id never heard Phil do before but he did it really well.

As he was listed as playing the guitar in the show then I must mention his guitar playing.  He played quite a variety of styles and my favourites were the blues playing in Tunnel of Love and the start of Fundamental.

I enjoyed the show and Im now looking forward to seeing him in A View from the Bridge.
