Phil in The Titfield Thunderbolt is really average and I can't understand what all the fuss is about.

It's by no means an outstanding performance and whilst he may play five characters I felt that they were all two dimensional and Phil didn't bring anything to any of them.

As Dan Tyalor, Phil is meant to be an old man but he was unconvincing as he still looked young,

Mr Ruddock, Harry Crump and Sgt Wilson were OK but I did feel that they were all played in a very similar way and it was only the accent that changed.

Finally there was Phil in drag as Mrs Bottomley and what a ridiculous sight that was and totally unconvincing and I have to admit that I did feel embarrassed as it was just so stupid.

I'm normally a fan of Phil's work but I did feel disappointed by this show.

Here's hoping that this isn't the start of a downward spiral and that the Curses! is much better.
