Don is the main character in Keep on Running. He stayed at school to do his A Levels and is going to Art College. He is going out with Michelle who wants him to give up college, get engaged and go and work at the Ford Plant. Don�s best friend Bob gets him a summer job at Fords and during his first week Don meets the wild and carefree Kathy � Kathy is a rocker while Don is a Mod and Bob warns Don that she�s no good.
Don meets Kathy again at the Ilford Palais on a night out with Michelle and Kathy invites Don back to her place, they end up spending the night together. Don dumps Michelle and Kathy gets him into trouble with the police and at the end of the first act Kathy leaves Don for Marty and heads for London.
The second act starts in 1968; Don is at Art College and on a Vietnam protest march he meets up with Kathy again. They end up back together and whilst seeing Marty�s band The Myth of Sisyphus play a gig, Don gets jealous of Kathy�s relationship with Marty and head butts him. Michelle and Bob turn up at Art College to tell Don that his mother is ill and she ends up dying. After the funeral Don goes back to London to try and sort things out with Kathy but she ends up being paralysed from the neck down in a motorbike accident that Kills Marty. When Don goes to visit her in hospital he tells her how he will look after her and get a job but to Kathy her life is over so she asks Don to kill her and he suffocates her with a pillow.
It�s said that they believed Kathy died because of her injuries and that Don disappeared to America but it�s not known what happened to him.
