| Blast off! The most amazing musical in outer space will touch down in Llandudno on Monday for a five-day run of supreme interplanetary entertainment. Return to the Forbidden Planet arrives at the North Wales Theatre next week, a rock 'n' roll epic packed with cosmic tunes from the 50s and 60s. This outstanding intergalactic production left Miss Saigon biting the space dust at the Laurence Olivier Awards, after winning best musical and picking up several technical nominations. A selcetion of terrific songs including Good Vibrations, Monster Mash, Great Balls of Fire and She's Not There, will have the audience moonwalking in the aisles. With a cast made up of West End veterans and potential superstars, Forbidden Planet could be one of the theatre's top draws in 2002. Philip Reed plays Cookie, one of the show's most popular characters and a real hit with the cyberbabes. Philip made his name in Hamlet, Sticks and Stones, Frosty the Snowman and as Richie Valens in Three Steps to Heaven but insists that this is the most fun that he has ever had on stage. "Cookie is a great individiual to play, but the most important things about this show is that there are no stars - we'll leave the audience to decide who their favourite is. "The tour is going great and we're selling out all over the country, so it'll be great to return to Llandudno. Hopefully this run will be as successful as our last stint there in 1999." Forbidden Planet has it all - mad scientists, evil baddies, beautiful heroines, romance, comedy and super heroes. The story unfolds after a space rocket containing the gorgeous Miranda (Sarah Beaumont) is diverted to the Planet, where Cookie falls head-over-heels in love with her. "Fans of the 60s, 50s B-movies and Star Trek will be in their element!" said Philip. "As well as singing, like the rest of the cast, I'll be playing instruments and dancing. "My forte is the guitar, but I'll also perform with a saxophone, bass, drums and a tambourine - howver, I haven't quite mastered the triangle yet! "There is a chance the tour will be extended because it's been such a huge hit, but until then we're all just enjoying the moment and looking forward to launching Forbidden Planet in North Wales."
