The final day of the 2002 tour was an emotional one for me; Id followed the tour since August 2001 when it was at Hornchurch, catching the show whenever I could so when I found out that the show was finishing I knew that I had to be there.

I set off for Wolverhampton from my home in Buckhurst Hill and by the time Id got to the theatre the matinee was just finishing, I was upset at having to miss the matinee but the show was sold out so it couldnt be helped.

I got a drink and bought my final programme and then came Captain Tempests announcement that the doors were open, I slowly made my way and sat down in my seat, I saw lots of people I recognised but didnt know their names.

Soon the crew started to make their way out and I saw my favourite Planet actor, Phil Reed.  He was dashing places and I was disappointed that he took the safety drill in the circle and not in the stalls where I was sat.  Soon all the crew were downstairs and I hoped that I would be able to get a photo of Phil as Cookie but it wasnt to be.

The show was amazing as always, Phil and Nick were on top form singing Yeh Yeh, one of my favourites and Aint Gonna Wash for a Week was as good as ever.  When Phil fell in the cake at the end of Teenager in Love the whole audience laughed and then went ahhh as Miranda rejected him.

Soon it was time for Shes Not There, what a great song this is and the chance for Phil to show everyone what a fantastic guitar player he is I sat there for the whole song transfixed, just looking at Phil.  I was still getting by breath back when the curtain came down for the end of the 1st Act.

Ive always loved the dialogue before Tell Her when Gloria persuades Cookie to steal the X-Factor, and when Cookie got stuck in the Teleport everyone was laughing.

The Mission Impossible theme signalled Cookies entrance with the X-Factor, Ive always enjoyed this bit of the show and tonight was no exception, Shake Rattle and Roll followed which is another favourite.

During Go Now the tears flowed and Im sure that some people wondered why I was crying, Diana sand it with such emotion as it really was the last time that Gloria would say goodbye to Prospero.

Only The Lonely had me smiling again with Cookie wiping his nose on Bosuns hand.

The rest of the songs seemed a blur until we were all on our feet for Monster Mash, then came Great Balls of Fire with loads of people screaming not only at Phil but the others as well.

Phil did the end of tour thank yous and I was really crying by now and when it came to Johnny B Goode I just stood there hardly being able to take it in that it was the end of the tour.

An additional song called Drift Away was sung and then that was it.

Can I just say thank you to Phil for making Cookie such a joy to watch and I wish him every success for whatever he does in the future.

Lets hope he is back on the stage again very soon.
