Phil is great in The Good Intent; he plays Charlie a Spitfire pilot based at RAF Hornchurch.

Charlie is in love with Edie (Loveday Smith); one of the WAAFs based at the airfield.

The show starts and Phil sings the first song called Waiting for the Rain, its sung as if its a love letter to Edie its very moving and during the song Phil is actually sat with a pen and paper writing a letter.

Phil has three costumes during the show, a dressy RAF uniform, his flying uniform and cricket whites.

One of the best parts is when Phil is meant to be flying a Spitfire, he gives a very moving monologue about how he is flying and seeing the countryside but then suddenly he is killing,

The local pub is the focal point for some of the action and its here that you see that Charlie is in love with Edie, both Phil and Loveday are convincing as the young lovers.  The scene that follows them bring the pub is funny but also shows what lengths someone will go to get what they want.

Tragedy strikes at the beginning of the second half, Charlies Spitfire is shot down and explodes, even though she has been told Edie still believes that he will come back to her.

This isnt Cricket is a duet between Phil and Loveday, it begins with Loveday singing alone on stage, then Phil comes on stage and says the contents of a letter that Charlie gave Edie to post to his mother, its emotional to hear Charlies words which include he much he likes Edie, why he doesnt know why hes fighting anymore and probably the most ironic, the fact that the others would look after him and not let anything happen to him.  By the end of it I had tears in my eyes and it is a completely fantastic song.

The fact that Charlie has died doesnt mean that Phil isnt on stage anymore; its now that he takes on the role of musician playing the guitar although he does tend to stand in the corner to do it.

Phil comes back on stage during the final reprise of songs and to take a bow.

I have failed to mention Phils other role in the show, that of a Military Policeman, he talks with a very different accent for this role and comes across as a jobs worth and someone who enjoys causing misery to normal people.

I wasnt a huge fan of Phils before seeing The Good Intent but I was very impressed by his acting and his singing voice.

I would recommend the show to anyone who wants a great night out.
