| A Midsummer Nights Dream is one of Shakespeares comedies and is the story of love and mistaken identity. The story is very funny and has many twists to it; I was in stitches for much of the show. One of the definite highlights is Matt Devitt as Bottom; he had the audience in stitches with his performance. Philip Reed as Lysander is excellent, he gets to show off what a talented actor he is during this production and he great comic timing as some of his scenes are very funny. During the show Phil plays the flute which is an instrument I didnt know he could play he looks very dashing in his costume which is an Athenian Uniform and he has also grown a beard for the part of Lysander which makes him look very different to when he played Cookie. Other highlights in the show include Bebeto as the fairies, I never knew string instruments could be played while dancing around and leaping in the air, Celia White as Hermia, Lysanders love interest, is excellent especially when she is being rejected by the man she loves and Carol Sloman as Titania/Hippolyta, who arranged all the music that is played during the show and gives an excellent all round performance. This is a show that has to be seen and is a triumph for The Queens Theatre and for the shows director Bob Carlton. Its a definite must see!! Review by Sharon Hedges |
